2011 Colorado RV Show

Post by mountainmaxx on 1/13/2011, 3:10 am

Went to the Colorado RV show last night hoping to see the latest and greatest thats coming out this year. Thats what I tell the wife so I get the hall pass for the evening.
To say the least I wasn't impressed. Not many dealers were present (6 ??). Of course, the dealers that were presenting did bring a lot of units. For the most part we stayed away from everything but the 5th wheel units on the floor ( had to go in the diesel pushers to see what 300+ gets you). Most of what is out there are geared to families with a lot of bunkhouse models. The trailers look bigger from the outside but walking around in the units they seemed small, tight and space was at a premium. Forest River had the new Wildcat "Sterling" on display and I didn't find it any better than the basic Wildcat. We both disliked the red fabric on the slideouts. I guess this is FR way of trying to stop the slides from leaking.
All in all its fun to look, but it make me really appreciate our trailer (28rkbs) more. We have always like the floor plan and its functional. Since we will be sending the boy off college in a year we thought we would upgrade, but nothing caught my eye this year. Thats not to say we wouldn't like one of those diesel pushers. By the way maybe thats where the wife spent the night??

We have been looking at all different fivers this past year. I agree, nothing seems exciting. I like the maple wood in my Cat more than most others. We did decide on a different brand and ordered it. I'll still miss the Cat though.
Our Green Bay show starts next Thursday. I'll be sure to go. DW gets off early Thursday so we will go in the afternoon.
We'll just check out the vendors, look at different camping units, Gather all the campground brochures. You know the ones we have now several times. Then buy a $7.00 beer and go home.
