Camping in Texas Hill Country

Post by f150k on 1/12/2011, 12:29 pm

We are planning a trip to the Texas Hill Country the 2nd week of March to the middle of April. One of are stops is Fredericksburg, than Austin, San Antonio, that whole triangle, should we stay in one campground or move around? Also what campground do you recommend? Do you think there will be any problem getting a camp site during that time?

We've never been there. Hope to get down there sometime. That time period is spring break, and if it were us, we'd make reservations. You might not need them, but you wouldn't like to get there and find all the good places full.

Scruffy and Tater, I see thet you travel to WDW quite often. I have read that you stay at the Hollywood in Ms. for an over night stop. Where is your next overnight stop? I live just north off New Orleans. We have friends that live down by Tampa and have towed straight through. But I would like to have an overnight stop in between. I no longer want to spend 12 hours behind the wheel. Shocked

Heading east from Hollywood, our next stop is Tallahassee West KOA. It's near Chattahoochee, about a mile off I-10, very quiet - is under trees, but we've always been able to find a hole to aim our Direct TV. Usually gets quite a few RVs every night. We don't make reservations - if we leave Hollywood around 9am ct, we are in Tallahassee West by about 3pm et. It's just east of the central/eastern time zone line.
