sean, I have a 2008 crew cab King Ranch. This is the fourth ford I have owned. I have owned two Dodges and one Chev. I have retired and only drive the truck 10,000 miles a year rather than 30 to 40,000 a year. I drove all the trucks I owned at less 120,000 before trading. All were good but the Ford is the best looking truck (imho). All the trucks now have all the emission controls and have caused problems but they will be worked out.

We have a 2000 F250 Super Crew 4x4 short box with the big V10. Only 61000 miles so far.

With a little TLC, she'll still be running/looking good when the 2020 models come out!

What I like about my 2010 F250 is the 6.4 liter diesel engine. It’s a beast and tows the Wildcat up steep mountain grades without breaking a sweat. I also love the great gas mileage it gets, usually between 10 to 11.5 MPG towing the cat. Keep in mind that I used to tow with a 8.0 liter V10 gasser that on a good day would only get 6.5 MPG towing. I also love those extendable mirrors for towing.

What don’t I like about the truck? The wheels, they’re just tragic to look at. I keep telling myself to buy something better looking but I still haven’t done it.

I have a 2010 F250 Lariat, PSD, CC, LB, I only have 6,000 miles on it so far. I love this truck, it pulls my 31TS like it isn't even there, I have yet to slow down when going over a mountain pass. I wish the mileage was better but I knew going in it wasn't an economy vehicle!

We have a 2008 F350 SRW crew cab 4x4 PSD and tow our Wildcat Loft. The truck pulls great everywhere: mountains, flats, crosswinds, t-storms, we always feel safe.

The power is plentiful, tow/haul keeps us slow enough on mountain descents, and the integrated brake controller and power extend mirrors are really nice.

The only negative I can think of is the ride height. We ordered the trailer with 16" wheels and still had to mount the leaf springs lower on the shackles. It's much better now, but still a little high. But - we never have to worry about the back of the truck sagging.

I was under the understanding that the new engine in the 2011 Ford trucks were a vast improver over previous years. I am hearing about this exhaust regen and other things that make me wonder if Dodge is the way to go if a new truck is needed. I have a 6.0 witch runs fine but I sometimes wonder if a Cummings (kits are available) replacement would be a great answer. Wait a minute, I pinched myself, hallucinations are over, just realized I live in the great state of California and a engine swap is out of the question. Busted

Have a new 2011 Ford 6.7, had a 2005 6.0PSD, the new one is quieter, much more power/torque and gets better mileage. Only down side is having to add DEF on occasion, but with the benefits it allows it's worth it. Regens are not nearly as bad as the 6.4s, only last 10/12 miles so its not a big impact. Also no perceivable loss of power.

DEF (32.5 percent industrial urea and 67.5 percent deionized water) is held in a separate storage tank and injected as a fine mist into the hot exhaust gases. The heat turns the urea into ammonia that - when combined with a special catalytic converter - breaks down the NOx into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapor.
Wow there you go, in the U.K. its called ADDBLUE.

Thank you for the info. Interesting to see what happens if that goes dry. All this new fangled smog crap to ruin a great engine. Use to be able to get 3 - 4 hundred thousand miles out a diesel pickup. Now maybe 2 hundred thousand if you are lucky. Can diesel additives still be used or will this mess up the system. AN interesting mess we have gotten into.

I don't know if owners of vehicles fitted with Def or Adblue, that it is very important to make sure you do not contaminate the def/adblue tank as this has a detrimental effect on the senors. Could be costly.
