Camping in Yellowstone/Grand Tetons
Does anyone know of a good place for a family - 2 trailers and a tent to camp in these parks? I checked and most are first come, first served - not an option as we would be traveling a long distance, do they fill up early? Private camps outside the park are upwards of $65 a night - again not an option. Are there any that take reservations and allow tent camping in the parks?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Camping in Yellowstone/Grand Tetons
Here is a list of some of the camping in Yellowstone.
Yellowstone
We stayed in Canyon,Nice place the spots are not long but we could park our truck beside the camper. You'll be ok with the 28'.We also stayed in Bridge Bay,A lot of those spots are tiny and not very level. We stayed in Signal mountain camp grounds in the Tetons. Some of those are a little tough to get in to,But it's a very beautiful place to see.
You can't miss the Tetons,Some of the most beautiful mountains I've ever seen.If I were you Rich I would make reservations if you are going up in peak tourist times.

Re: Camping in Yellowstone/Grand Tetons
We have a Rockwood 8280WS 5th wheel now and stayed last fall at Madison Campground in Yellowstone, very nice campground. They have a 50' length limit on camper and truck. Our truck is a crew cab long box F350, the truck is 19' and the trailer is 30.33' so we just made it under the wire. So just make sure your total length is under or once you get there, they will turn you away even if you have reservation. It is always best to check to see if there are any length restrictions, any time you make reservations. We have also stayed at Colter-bay and Gros Ventre in the Tetons. We had moose everyday at Gros Ventre. Enjoy it is a great place to visit.

We just did a Yellowstone trip last year in late July. We stay at a campground in the Gallatin National Forest just outside of the park in Montana. The place is called Rainbow Point. It is a 10 minute drive north of West Yellowstone. Loop C is the only sites with electric. It is a very nice area next to a lake. I have some pictures if you would be interested.

Some of the campgrounds in Yellowstone don't allow tents or tent trailers. They specify hard side units only for those campgrounds. This info is on the Yellowstone web site.

We stayed at Fishing Bridge the year before they shut off the electricity (but on looking at Xanterra's site now, looks like they've got it upgraded to 50-amp service). It's for hard side units only (bear country). It was really tight backing the Cat into those spots. Could not even open the awning because it would have hit the other rig next to us. Not bad though considering we were in the park. Besides, we were never home anyway.

Check out bakers Hole. http://www.wildcatcamperforum.com/t4489-yellowstone It is only a few miles north of West Yellowstone and the west entrance. We stayed there with 4 trailers and were able to get next to each other.
