NO Power..
Happy New Year All.
Looking for some help. I heard a alarm sound in my trailer and went to look and the Carbon Monoxide detector was going off. I went to turn on the lights but NO POWER. The trailer is in a barn with an electric connection attached. Nothing is wroking except for the clock on the microwave. I can't open the slides to get to the Carbon Monoxide detector. Any Ideas?? I always leave the trailer plugged in so the battery with stay charged but now nothing. Could the power inverter gone south?? None of the circuits are blown that I can see. Thanks..

Re: NO Power..
Sounds like maybe the power converter. You could try hooking up your Tow Vehicle power to your trailer to open the slides or try hooking up a battery charger to the battery on the trailer. If the converter did go south your battery is dead. Jim

Re: NO Power..
When was the last time you serviced your battery? I just serviced my batteries in July and found out my batteries had run down while plugged in to shore power. When I finally got around to actually checking the battery fluid levels, I discovered they had cooked down again in that 6 mth period. Check to make sure you've got the proper fluid level in your battery before you get too far in the process.

You can always open the slides by using a hex bit in a drill and manually turing the pump motor. The hex slot is located under a piece of gummed label at the end of the motor. At least on mine it is.

Re: NO Power..
It does sound like a battery problem, but there are a few other things to check. Is the battery cut off switch on? Check the circuit breakers to make sure they are all ok, there is a reset button on the side of each one, they are very small. Push each one, it is hard to tell if they are tripped by looking at them.
The slides are wired directly from the batteries through the circuit breaker bus and do not go through the converter. Hopefully you will find that your battery is bad and your converter is still good.

Sounds like a bad converter to me.
Your lights would still work while on shore power from your converter even if your battery is dead.

There is one good way for checking lead acid batteries, and that is by using a Refractometer. Very accurate and some can also be used to test your antifreeze/screen washer mix. here is the one I use

Re: NO Power..
Thanks all for the advice.
This is what I came up with. With the battery out on the battery charger (no battery) in the trailer, I plugged in the trailer and NO LIGHTS (except the clock on the microwave) NO SLIDE OPERATION, NO POWER AWNING, NO STEREO. I plugged a light into the electrical sockets and its works. I am going to take a stab at it and say the power converter (all the fuses look good) has gone south. It is really cold outside so this might be a springtime fix. Also don't plan on using it till May, but its sad to see that its only two years old and we have gone thru LP gas regulator, three Concertone stereo units, torn mattress (found that one a month after purchase), two broken blinds, a cracked skylight and a giant hole in the fresh water tank. Forest river quality control where are you...

There's a good chance the converter might still be under warranty. Good luck. Jim

Re: NO Power..
Thanks all! We are in the middle of a mean winter storm here - 8 to 15" of snow - which I think is AWESOME but that puts the repairs on hold for now.
