ERS/emergency roadside service
I must be missing something but I don't find any discussion on the subject. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about GoodSam vs Coach-net ERS?

Have had Good Sams for 12 years and love the service that I have received from them. Covers all my vehicles plus my sons and daughters cars. I wouldn't have anyone else.

I had the need for Roadside service earlier this month with a blown tire. I used Good Sam service and it was very prompt, responsive.

I've had good and bad experiences with Good Sam. One time I had a flat on my old MotorHome that I discovered upon arrival at the campground. I called Good Sam and they could not find anyone to come out and change the tire. I was left on my own to deal with it. That is not what you expect to hear when you call. Other times I had good experiences with them helping out my kids when they had a flat many miles from home. I have read very good things about Coach Net.

DH and I have Good Sam and have had good experiences with them. A few years ago we had a brake line bust while coming thru the Eisenhower Tunnel. Fortunately, DH realized it and pulled over to the truck area just west of the tunnel (before the 10 mile downhill stretch). Good Sam sent a tow truck that could pull both truck and fiver, and found a repair shop and a place where we could drop the fiver while waiting for the truck repair.

I have Coach Net. Thankfully I have not used them yet.
One thing to remember is that both services do not run the towing companies. They have a contract with them. In smaller town areas, if you call for help from either Good Sam or Coach Net, the same guy shows up. Even in some metropolitan areas, there is only one towing outfit that can handle RV's. So... good service or bad often times is the fault of the service provider, not Good Sam or Coach Net.

We're happy with Good Sam. One time the dispatcher sent the service guy east instead of west, so that caused a bit of a delay, but he got there and changed the tire and we were back on our way. Another time the dispatcher said it would be about 30 minutes, which would normally be reasonable, but a work crew on the highway said we had to be out of there sooner - so they changed the tire.
