PRESENTING .........

Post by schrowang on 12/26/2010, 11:40 am

First topic message reminder :

THE GRAY GHOST (an allusion to Major Mosbey, of course)

I love the interior of this thing. The difference between the 04.5' and the 10' is like night and day. The back seating actually has more leg room and according to the DW the seats are much more comfortable.

We love it ...... snoopy

Halfway through the 2004 model year, the Cummins 5.9L got a little bump in power output.

2003-2004 Cummins 5.9L HO produced 305 HP and 555 lb-ft TQ.
2004.5-2007 5.9L Cummins produced 325 HP and 610 lb-ft TQ.

There may be other differences, but that's the big one I know of.

EDIT: I re-read your question and I think I answered a totally different question. He meant to abbreviate 2004.5 to '04.5 and 2010 to '10.

Thank you answers my question. I have heard thru the grape vine that the 5.9 is not as good as the older ones. Hey as long as it runs and gets U from point A to point B. After all what the heck it is a cummings.

Engines always have their fans and detractors. I know guys that swear up and down after the 7.3L Powerstroke Ford hasn't had a diesel worth a nickel. Some 6.0L were problematic, my dad has one that hasn't given him 1 problem. I work with a Dodge guy and he much prefers the older 5.9L to the newer 6.7L. Different 'strokes I guess, pun intended.

Honestly, there are parts of the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks from all of the big 3 that I'd like to frankenstein together into one super truck.

I agree 100%. They make a kit which allows you to swap out engines and put in a Cummings. Unfortunately I live in California and all I can do is dream.

The 6.7L CTD is not a dog. I like it better than my old 5.9L CTD HO engine. It's quieter. The only diff that I've noticed is a slight reduction in mpg due to the soot collector.

By the way Maxtor the 10 isn't the horsepower it's the trucks rating on a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the best. The 5.9 is the Furd rating.
