Converter for 2006 32QBBS Wildcat

Post by nicko803 on 12/22/2010, 2:20 pm

I have a 2006 32QBBS Wildcat that needs a converter. I'm not a mechanic and wanted to know where the converter is located and how hard are they to change out. I can do it but I have been told they are under the fridge, but I'm guessing they are by the breaker box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the forum from the U.K.
The converter/charger is very easy to change there are a lot of links on this site (type converter in the search box) to help you change your old one safely, plus there is quite a range of converters to suit your needs (power out put). Follow this link to the one I used.

I found it easy to install. there are lots of converter/ chargers, but buy at least a three stage one, they are much kinder to your batteries. You will have answers form other forum members soon, to help solve your dilemma .

Welcome to the forum. I changed our converter a few years back and installed a Progressive Dynamics 9160 with the charge wizard. I have some photos of this (go to my modification page below). Here is a link to where you could get one from: http://www.bestconverter.com/Progressive-Dynamics-Inteli-Power_c_81.html

If you are not sure about how to do it lots of information on the form. Take some pic and save them to look at when installing the new converter. Like the above advice get the 3 stage one.

Thanks for everyones help and I know I can change it. I was told by camper dealer that's what's wrong with it. I wanted to know where it was located if anyone can help with that. Thanks everyone.

The converter section is just below the breaker panel inside the same housing. Remove the 4 screws on the bottom half of the door and the whole front comes off. Converter is in the bottom. Here's a link for instructions from the style I upgraded to. http://www.progressivedyn.com/4600_operation_guide.pdf

Here's the upgraded 55amp 4-stage converter I used. https://bestconverter.3dcartstores.com/4600-series_c_133.html

Here's the link on this forum of my install. http://www.wildcatcamperforum.com/t2822-upgraded-conveter-charger-with-a-4-stage-charger

Earl: Thanks for the help. I'm ready to get that thing fixed and get out of the cold snowy weather. There are no other kinder people than RV people. See you at the campground. Nick
