Christmas at Fort Wilderness

Christmas at Fort Wilderness
Fort Wilderness was decorated more than the themeparks. These are just a few of the 60 pictures we took of camper's decorations. All of the decorations throughout the campground (except for the lights and garlands on the bus stops) are owned and set up by the campers.

When we took our first drive through the campground, we saw one or two of these. Now, a little more than a week later, we see these popping up all over the place. They're cute... Santa opens and closes the door. We thought we'd like to get one, but after seeing so many, we've changed our minds. Besides, they are over $200 on amazon.

Cool pics! How do people pack/carry all the stuff that they have and or set up in their camps?

Most of them have big @$$ motorhomes with huge basements. Those inflatable things smoosh down a whole lot. Some of those people with the huge displays are local (with lots of $$ no doubt). They get their site as early as September. They decorate for fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.... changing with the seasons. They pull trailers behind their motorhomes, or fill their toads with stuff, and drive back and forth from home for more stuff. I don't know how they do it. Some of the sites are Premium and can range between about $75 and $95 a night, depending on the month, day or weekend. Scruffy and I speculated that the motorhome might belong to one couple in a family, and "sub-let" it to other family members for a week or so at a time. Whatever, it's quite entertaining. Our last night at Fort Wilderness there was a golf cart parade. Several people had their carts decorated to the extreme. One had an inflatable snowman on top. I think one had a decorated Christmas tree - another was blowing "Disney snow" - soap bubbles. It was amazing.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing.
I believe if you live in Florida, you can get a HUGE discount at Disney.

Re: Christmas at Fort Wilderness
My brother and sis-in-law have Florida resident weekday annual passports. They can go to WDW all year, except on weekends and during blackout periods (spring break, Christmas/NewYear's week, summertime, and some other times, I think). The times they can't use their passports, are the times when the parks are most crowded - the times old folks like them wouldn't want to go.
The weekday passports are very reasonable.
Disney also has regular or premium APs for Florida residents that are quite a bit less expensive than what we out-of-staters have to pay. Active and retired military can get good deals on passports. They can purchase vouchers for passports or maybe the actual passports on military bases, and passports at Shades of Green at WDW. DOD employees used to get discounts on ticket media, I'm not sure if they still do.

I'm still envious that you can go to WDW as often as you do, that's at least a five day drive for us at the bottom left of the country.

Being very old, we stop 3 nights along the way. Without the trailer, when we were a few years younger, we could stop one night. That was 9.5 to 10 hours of driving a day. Now 6 hours a day is about our limit. We stop 3 nights going to Vista, which is where our son, dil and grandson live.
Well, for a Disney fix, you can go to Disneyland. I know, it isn't the same.
