For those upgrading to LED lighting

Post by Mopar_Earl on 12/5/2010, 11:19 am

I came across 12V LED vanity lights to replace the 12V bulbs in your bath. I haven't tried these, just saw an ad and figured I'd pass it on. When I was checking into switching my whole trailer to LED lighting, LED vanity lights didn't exist at the time.

If anyone tries these LED's out, please let us know how well they work.

Part number JC-24SMD-AB-P is for the vanity lights.

JC-24SMD-AB-P
This bayonet based LED retrofit is the perfect replacement for your bathroom vanity light. 18 LEDs wrapped around the center axis with an additional 6 LED cluster on the top, all inside of a clear, ridged casing provide uniform light diffusion. WARM WHITE light gives warmer skin tones while applying cosmetics. Power consumption is a miserly .09 amp. Total output is approximately 260 lumens.

I have upgraded most of the lights in my Cat to Led's, I have used a cool white rather than warm white to get a bit more light. Cost to do the lounge area was about £160.00 ($250.00) there are a lot of bulbs to change in a 30LSBS. I now let her in doors have all the lights on due to the fact they consume about 2 amps in total.
Lighting effect is not bad, slightly dimer than the tungsten bulbs that they replace.

Thank you. Gives me an option when I go dry camping. Keep the power hungry ones for the RV Park if the 24SMD does not give enough light to satisfy the the wifey. I did not know that about Warm Light. Have to see which 24SMD I can use. Again thank you for the help.

I have several fluorescent tube fixtures. Would it be worth replacing those?

When I was looking for a replacement I found that they where quite expensive so I didn't bother. In my motor home I changed some lights to 2 D or 3 D light ( I try and find the data) which used 16 watts but gave out the equivalent of 75 watts of light. really good and bright

Interesting Sean. Never heard of 2D or 3D lights.

New Wildcats and Wildcat Sterling Edition units feature halogen lighting on the main floor. A nice upgrade from the standard "pancake" lights that are commonly used.

Once LED costs truly come in line, I'd like to see them in a Wildcat. I'll be watching how your mods work...

My motor home had some halogen lighting fitted, the main benefit was the slightly better light output and about half the piwer consumption. Leds are about a tenth cheaper to run longer life and if you use cool white rather than warm white you get a slightly whiter light. I would have thought with the volume that forest river would buy these lights that would bring the price way down.
