Camping World In-line Water Filter

Post by schrowang on Fri May 16, 2008 6:47 am

Yesterday morning one of our neighbors noticed that the neihboring Class-A in the Workkamper's section had water pouring out of its belly. Since the neighbors were working at the time, we shut the water to the unit off and then went to the store to alert them to the problem.

Long story short the moulded in-line water filter housing had cracked at the outlet and was pouring water into one of the basement compartments. The filter was a Camping World "TastePURE KDF/Carbon Water Filter (Cat # 18478). It was only a week old and my co-worker always uses the 40lb pressure reducer.

Probably a bad run of mouldings by the supplier. Anyone who uses one of these might want to inspect theirs to see if it's cracking. I've found that its also good policy to turn the water off when leaving the rig.

Mike,

My brother told me 1 time they went out for the day, and when they came home their camper was flooded. The pipe broke under the bathrooms sink. He suggested to turn off the water every time we go out, and that's exactly what we do, TURN IT OFF!!!

VERY GOOD REMINDER, THANKS.....

Thanks for the heads up and a very good idea to turn the water off if you leave the campsite. Just the amount of water that can accumulate in an area from a leak, before you notice, when you are at the site is tremendous.
Idea worthy

I too now shut the water off and remove the hose from the outlet anytime we leave the camper.
Last year while in northern PA a fellow camper had two hoses hooked up one for the city water, one to his tank wash.
Upon their return from a site seeing trip it was found that some mischeivious kids turned the water on to the wash unknowingly. well lets just say it was very ugly inside and 4 very unhappy campers.

Wow, Glad I read this. That makes some good sense to turn the water off. Didn't really think of what could happen.
I"ll be turning mine off from now on.

I could tell you a story about a trailer with the entire floor covered in 3" of ice, but that will have to wait till I have more time.
