Withdrawal

Post by Richard Mondavi on 11/21/2010, 4:12 pm

With our Wildcat stored for the winter, I’m already having withdrawal from RVing. I guess it’s time to start planning trips for next year. I’m thinking we will be going to Gulf Shores Alabama in the spring. I KNOW we won’t be going back to Bay St. Louis Mississippi. Bay St. Louis was still trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina (2005) last year.

On the way south, we always stop in Memphis Tennessee for a day or two to visit with friends we know living there. I think next year we will make a point of visiting Elvis’ Mansion. For all the trips to Memphis we’ve made over the years, we still haven’t toured the Mansion. Since our friends live in Germantown, we will make a point of getting BBQ ribs at the Commissary Restaurant….the best BBQ ribs in the Memphis area.

I’m also considering a pilgrimage to the Anchor Bar in Buffalo New York under the guise of a trip to Niagara Falls. For those who don’t know, the Anchor Bar is where the very first Buffalo Chicken Wings were served. I love Buffalo Chicken Wings and I want to taste the original. This will probably be a June trip if we take it.

I’m sure we will be going to Branson Missouri at least once next year, probably in late summer or very early fall.
I don’t think we will take many long trips next year because we need to save money for a Caribbean cruise that we will be taking next fall.

Has anyone else started their planning for next year yet?

Sweet! Yeah, I already have 4 trips planned next year. I have trips planned for the next several years. Ones I do every year but they're still planned! Some things are already booked for next year.

Winter sucks enough not to mention my main hobby has to come to an end as well. So it double sucks!

Sounds like some good trips in the works Richard.

I'm hoping next year is the year to Colorado/Utah. We were set to go this past season but couldn't get vacation days from work set for everybody.

We will do our annual trips to the mountains here in WV. The Snowshoe Mountain GNCC race and the State Fair as well.

I'm sure we'll spend many long weekends at our private camp with Jeep, ATV and Dirt Bike in tow. We always spend the big three Holliday weekends there. Never crowded and always get the best spot! Laughing

I hope/pray that we are all healthy and able to enjoy another great season next year most of all.

I am just hoping that next year is going to be full of travel with the Cat. I have booked one event already and that is a dinner at the House of Parliament in May, and possibly the Sandringham Estate in September.

We are planning on going to Cooperstown next summer to check out the hall of fame. Maybe after that we will head to the Lake George area. At this point it is still up in the air because my buddy, who I travel with, doesn't trust his truck for a trip that long. I'm hoping he gets a new one, (up to his wife ). AwwMan

I had withdrawls all year long, only had the Cat out four times this year, too much stuff going on with Boy Scouts and other family travels. I winterized last week and there she sits in my driveway, waiting to be used as sleeping facilities for inlaws coming this week.

I have already booked a couple of site for a trip to New Jersey. My Mother lives out there and she can't travel anymore. So we will load the Cat with our food and the dogs food and head east again. We made the trip a coule of years back with our old TT and Ford F150 gasser. We made it but the truck didn't like the hills much, can't wait to see what the F 350 with the 6.0 PS will do.
Pretty soon we will get together with camping buddies and plan our summer weekends.

Hey Everyone,

In the same boat here, the 5er parked and covered, snow on top of it and empty.....makes me sad ever year I have to put it away... AwwMan

But am looking forward to next year, dont have anything planned, will of course have it parked at our property but want to go on some other outings here in the NW.

If anyone is coming up this way, let me know and maybe we can get together out in the woods at a private get-a-way!

We too are having MASSIVE withdrawals! : (

Our Wildcat is in the shop for some last minute repairs and then we'll see. Hoping to get her out at least once in January. We plan on several trips to Wayne Fitzgerald State Park in Feb., and March. Have reserved a week at the end of March at Wappapello, Redman's Recreation. Then I have reserved several weekends at various campgrounds for April and early May. May 17th starts our BIG trip. We have several weeks at Topsail in Florida, then on to Gulf State Park in Alabama, and a couple of weeks to get home... not sure where yet! :-)

We have a condo in Destin for the X-Mas holidays this year and plan on checking out several parks in Tennessee and Alabama on the way!!

It's going to be a busy and great new year!!

We've got nearly half our trips for next season reserved so far (we go every other weekend). Around here the good sites go very early!

I have just had to cancel the planed trip for this weekend due to the unusual weather at the moment 6 inches of snow. AwwMan
I don't think that a 2 wheel drive chevy and 12000 lbs of cat make a good combination. I hope next week end will be OK, as it is a weekend away for the grandchildren to see Santa. (I can't wait)

If you got enough pin weight it'll plant the rear tires. My 93 Dodge 2wd CTD did well in the snow with my old 5th wheel. But it had 2300 lbs of pin weight dropped on the rear axle. Unhitch it and your stuck lol!
