Fort Wilderness WDW
Well I have read post by alot of you about how great Fort Wilderness Campground is. We just got back home today and I have to say it was a great trip. I have never been to Disneyworld and it was great to take the kids and get a little camping in at the same time. I can't wait to get to work in the morning to let my feet rest!
I believe I have walked 100 miles this week.
We had ask for a site in the 1000 loop but the guy checking us in talked me into the 300 loop. We had site 333 which according to him was the largest in that loop saved me a few bucks and it was close to the playground and pet area. It was great! It actually is in the curve so backing in was not much of a problem. We would have been in 1001 which is right at the road so I think we made a good choice.
After the first day of walking to the boat and all over magic kingdom and then back to the camper, I decided a golfcart was a requirement!! It was a great trip and I hope to go back and be able to spend more time in the campground. We had a pretty full schedule so not alot of time to site see inside the campground. We did attempt to eat at the Trails End one night but it was a 2hr wait so that didn't work. I did learn one thing some of you may or may not know. Disney decided to stop selling merchandise with Fort Wilderness on it. I saw a spare tire cover on a wildcat and went to get one and thats what they told me. Thats really sad I would have bought a hat or tshirt as well.
All together great place to camp. I have some pictures I will try to post in a day or so. I know the Christmas stuff was everywhere it was great.

I liked loop 300 when we stayed in it. We were next to the trail that lead out to the canal.
We take the bikes and ride them everywhere. Saves a ton of money from the carts and you can leave your bikes at the beach and not worry about them.
The fire works are pretty loud in the 300 loop also aren't they ?

Re: Fort Wilderness WDW
Here are some pics. I posted in wrong place so I moved them.
My wife is still getting all the photos unloaded. Here is a couple I had on my blackberry. Our camper faced a little stream so no campers directly in front of us.

Looking toward the drive in 300 loop camper to my left.

Kinda looking toward the site beside us but I think the camper was gone. You can see the yard is pretty clear.

Your fabled Lawnmower tree. Not much left!!

Our neighborhood pet came to visit in the evenings!

Fireworks from the marina golfcart parking area.

And my favorite but not the greatest pick. This will be my golfcart upgrade if I ever get one. Any world of Outlaw fans gotta love this!!

The Christmas lights are going up everywhere!!

Re: Fort Wilderness WDW
Jonathan,
Great pics. We find the walking at Fort Wilderness to be tiring and hurtful, so we always rent a golf cart. In the past we rented from Fort Wilderness, but when we go back in a couple weeks we'll be renting for half the cost from an off-site company. The off-site carts have plastic rain shades, too, and the FW carts don't. Not that it ever rains in Central Florida.

Re: Fort Wilderness WDW
We where the third site past the path over the waterway. Its a great area I thought. I was a little nervous when the guy ask how was my backing skills!! Some of the sites are tight to get in. I helped a guy back into 363 (last one on the outside loop) and it was a 50 pt rd turn to get it in there. He had a tagalone and a suburban so the TV was as long as the camper which didn't help.
We saw deers just about every night while riding the cart around. I didn't get to see scruffy and tater's turkey's but I was looking!

We were in the site that was the second from the cart path. Them little trash cans sticking out of the ground are a booger also to miss. That big cypress tree you were parked under sent a big limb through the roof of the guys camper that was parked there when we were there, big thunder storm came through and knocked some limbs down. FW told the guy they'd pay for the repair,,,, I always wondered if they followed through.

I was looking at some of the pics we took and came across these two I forgot about. They believe in taking all the toys camping.

I was in the site where the suburban was next to you. I'd have to say either one of those three sites are awesome. A bit tricky to back into but not to bad.

I'm sure glad you used the "lol" guy on this one. I served at Orlando AFB (across FL50 from the Executive Airport) from July of 1965 to October of 1967. From late May to early October you could set your watch by the 4:30 rain/thunder storm. Course, they only lasted about 15 minutes, but I've never seen downpours like that except monsoon season in SEA.
