2011 Dodge 4x4 Dually

Post by oldelmer1 on 11/12/2010, 3:25 pm

Mike, I went to buy a new Ford, and they just wanted me to give them my ford. Tried and tried to get them to deal, but nope. So yes, we get it on Wednesday.

Maxtor, If we ever get it, she might let me, she really likes driving it too.

BobnPi, Isn't is SWEET!!!!!

It came from Camden, NJ and when we went and looked at it, it had 100 miles on it and the lie-o-meter said 18.3 MPG. If its close to correct, that's not too bad for a dually 4X4 with the 3.72. rear.

Post by Maxtor on 11/12/2010, 7:02 pm

I think we should all learn from Tom and Sharon. Life is short, and the money left in the bank when we die, is wasted. Like Tom, we were told by our local Ford dealer that our truck was worth only half of a new one, even though we only have 29,000 miles on ours. So, Sunday I take a trip to San Francisco to look at three Corvettes to find one we like. I made a choice that I would rather buy a corvette, than trade in our truck plus the cost of a corvette to purchase a new Ford truck.
I am not a Dodge person, but I think Tom made a very wise choice.

Does it have factory fifth wheel hitch?

At work, we've been having a hard time finding the mounting kits for fifth wheels for the 2011 Dodges...

Steve,
Your right, I've been having a hard time finding a hitch. Been talking to Pull-rite, and they will have the prototypes out next week.

NO, Dodge doesnt not offer a 5th wheel hitch, only Ford.

And if I agree, they will send me the brackets for free if I agree to have the installer call and answer some questions. I've called 3 different Pull Rite dealers and they all said the WILL call, so I should be good to go.

Tom,

I think you're gonna like the new 6.7 CTD. Like all CTD's it will take about 20K to fully break it in, but that's when you should start hitting the best mpg that you'll ever get.

The difference between the 5.9 and the 6.7 mpg is due to the added particulate capture that they had to put on the engine to meet the new EPA standards.

BTW the 3.73 rear with the new 6-speed auto is really a sweet combo.

Of course, ignore Maxtor's response. What can you expect from a Ford guy ..... lol!

Also, take a look at www.turbodieselregister.com. There's lots of really good information on the 4th generation 6.7 CTDs.

The very best of luck with the new truck. snoopy

Thanks everyone, we are excited about it and cant wait to get it. Should have it on Wednesday, still waiting for the spray in bed-liner.

Mike, I've been reading over at cumminsforum, and my brother just told me about TDR today. So I will check it out. We've had 2 other Dodges, a 1997 1500, and a 2004 Dakota and were very pleased with both. I almost got 1 with the 4.10, but the dealer and sales manager talked me out of it.

Oh, and I always ignore what MAXTOR says. lol! (only kidding buddy)

Tom,
The 2010 sales brochure states Mopar offers both gooseneck and 5th-wheel hitches. I don't know what brands they are or if they're worth wild. You'd probably have to speak with the parts guys since they are Mopar items as the sales staff may not have a clue.

Hey Tom, the TDR is a great site and if you like reading technical junk about the Dodge/Cummins (DC), they have a fantastic quarterly magazine for a yearly fee.
I look forward to seeing you over there ~ my user name is Prairie Dog.

Tom,

I think my renewal is comming up next issue and if memory serves me correctly I beleive it's $48.00 for the annual subscription to the mag and membership in the forum. I think it's the best $48.00 I've spent.

Thats more for pulling stumps out of the ground on the farm, I don't think you'll be doing any of that.

Nice looking new rig. What made you go with a dually ?

Phillip,

As you can see by my signature, I've got the 4.10 rear in mine with a 6-speed std. tranny. Unless I get below 55mph, I've never had to shift to 5th to pull a hill on an interstate. Friends who have the 3.73 have to run in 5th below 60 mph and those with tow/haul on the new 6-spd auto's are mostly always in 5th on hills.

But you're right, she's a stump puller in 1st. lol!

Scott, Earl, Mike,
Thanks for the heads up on the TDR, I will check it out.

Scott, when I told my dealer I needed a 5th wheel hitch, I'm leaving my 16K slider) they suggested I go to a local installer. Never said anything about having them install one for me.

They don't even have any brochures on the new trucks. For that matter, they were suppose to get the new ones in on a Monday, so the Saturday before, they throw all the 2010's away. And, yup, they never got the 2011's in.

I will call them on tomorrow.
