Tyre (tire) question

Post by Sean on 11/12/2010, 9:54 am

Does any one revolve there tyres over the winter time or do you leave them alone and hope that they do not develop flaspots.

I've let mine sit with no problems. I guess the only other sure fire way would be to have a spare set to put on over the winter so your good one's can stay indoors with climate control.

I've read where its recommended to pump them up 5 pounds over max. This way, they do not flat-spot over time. But no need to revolve(lol) them.

I also read that it is a good idea to over inflate them a little bit. That is what I do with the 5'er. My boat trailer I jack up to take the weight off for the winter.

I think the need to spin them went away with radial tire design.
I remember the old days of bias-ply tires on cars when your tires would go flat on one side and ride rough the first few miles in the morning. Glad those days are gone.

I've never turned the tires or rotated them and haven't had a problem yet.
I hope I didn't just now jinx myself.

I do not turn my tires during the winter. I just keep them under the covers.

I don't revolve them either, but I do need to put the covers on. Thanks for the reminder!

I have wood under my tires when the trailer goes into its 5 month sleep mode. We have seen tires rot before they wear out when they are continually parked for long periods of time on cement.

I am glad that I don't have the 5 month layup with my Cat. I have bookings made for the weekend 3/12/10, 10/12/10, 31/12/10. and I am also thinking I might try and squeeze another one in before the new year. I am a little bit committed to other things this month to be able to get away.
