Brake pads
I am going to need replacement brake pads soon so I need to know what type to purchase.
There seem to be quite a few options Ceramic ceramic mix etc what type of pads are most suitable for a 2500HD Chevy towing a 5er

Re: Brake pads
If you've got a little extra to spend going all out,,,, Go for ceramic with vented rotors. If you still have stock rotors just grab a decent priced name brand.

Re: Brake pads
I put Raybestos Brute-Stop's on my last truck and it made a huge difference in how much peddle it needed to stop.

I very much agree with ScottandGrace. Knowing I was going to tow the Cat I had my Ford Dealer put on Brute-Stop's when I bought my truck. You will notice the difference.

Scott, I assume that you mean brake performance was greatly enhanced with these brake pads in stalled. Did you have the standard rotors left on your truck

Re: Brake pads
Sean, I haven't replaced the brakes on my current truck yet. I put the Brutes on my 1993 Dodge Cummins. The orig brakes took more and more pedal effort as they aged. Finally, even with both feet pushing with all my strength, I couldn't lock up the front brakes anymore in a panic stop (no ABS) and the overall performance was very weak. After installing the brutes I was able to lock them up with just the toes of one foot! BTW, I did not replace or resurface the drums/discs.
Because of the exhaust brake, I'm hoping to never have to replace the brakes on my current truck.

Re: Brake pads
I always buy the best pads with lifetime warranty that they sell. I always feel sick when the guy next to me buys the $12.00 pads.
I have the brute stops on my 93 Dodge CTD 2wd and I'm fully happy with them. Installed them 5 years ago and as of 11/13/10 they were at least half remaining.

Re: Brake pads
Sean, the only think I have noticed is the Brute Stops tend to dust a little more then standard pads I guess it could be the carbon in them.

Re: Brake pads
It seem that it has to be brute stops for me, I will no try to find a supplier to ship to the U.K., I have been told that Rockauto will do so.
