First topic message reminder :
Just saw this little pic about the new Wildcat Sterling. Didn't have much info. Is this new? Have any of you seen this? Maybe I'm just out of touch but I haven't seen this before. Says it is a high end model Cat.
RV Wholesalers online had sent the email. Just wondering where I can get info.

I have a dream for when we can't tow anymore. I want to design my own floor plan for a Sportsmobile Class B motorhome. It can be built into a Ford, Chevy or Sprinter. I have actually designed several and have them saved on the Sportsmobile site - I just can't decide until the time is right on which one I want. Scruffy doesn't say much about this.So far, I think he might veto the whole idea. It's still fun to design.

I agree,,, sounds fun.
I like to design house layouts. If we were not so old, and housing prices were up, we would sell, move out of Kalifornia, and head North, and build my dream design. Although someone beat me to it, and the they have a kit already designed.

Re: Wildcat Sterling
Chris,
One thing that gets mentioned are the same defects that seem to be common with a lot of us. An example, my Cat is in the shop now for the following repairs:
1- Replace Concertone (4th time)
2- Replace slide out breaker
3- Repair freshwater tank
4- Replace water pump
I will give you that the water pump is something I have not seen before and is beyond control. The others are common. The water tank is going to be plastic welded because the shop (a former Cat dealer) can't get FR to return his calls with a price and the tank was improperly assembled at the factory (penetration was missing a complete weld) I am lucky that I have a Extended service (Good Sam) that expires this Sunday. But, all in all we like and enjoy our Cat.

Re: Wildcat Sterling
Thats why the forum was started in the first place pretty much. To help wildcat owners fix their problems. Most warrantys are long gone. I'd bet this forums saved thousands of repair dollars by being able to share helpful ideas on fixing things.
90% of the problems are really easy to fix if you have just a little bit of handy man/woman skills.
But theres a lot of other ideas, mod's, places to camp , how to get there, How to pull it there, How to keep what you pull it there in good driving condition, things to cook, or just a good old joke to share and of course LOTS of Ribbing from time to time.
Sometimes panic sets in and stirs up a lot of dust, but when it all settles everyone still loves a great experience in the outdoors with their WILDCAT !

Yes U can help. Can you find out why FR is not listing the 30RLBS in any blue books. 29RLBS is but have not been able to find 30RLBS.

Unfortunately, I don't have any information on that floor plan. I do not believe it was ever built in the Elkhart facility, so I have no past records or data on it. If I find an answer for you, I'll share it...

2005, 2006, 2007 they was an east coast model and a west coast model. Where do U build east coast models?

Re: Wildcat Sterling
We have Wildcat production facilities in Elkhart, IN, and Dallas, OR. The Indiana facility builds for states generally east of the Rockies and the Oregon facility builds for the Western states.
I'm very familiar with the 29RLBS, just not the 30RLBS (which I believe was a OR floorplan only).

Re: Wildcat Sterling
As I stated above. THERE WAS WAS AN EAST COAST MODEL AND A WEST COAST MODEL. Just like the 29RBLS. EAST COAST WAS BUILT LIKE EAST COAST 29RLBS and WEST COAST WAS BUILT LIKE WEST COAST 29RLBS. IF I CAN FIND PAPER WORK. DOUBT IT. I CAN SEND IT TO U.

I thought Chris explained it pretty well. He doesn't have any info on the 30rlbs, but it he finds out anything, he share it with us.
I have West Coast brochures for 2005 and 2007.... but I know they won't be of any help.

Tater - But he said more than that. Reread the fine print. As I said at that time he said more than that and I believed based on my old mine he was wrong. I must stand corrected. After researching East coast it is a 30LSWB that I was confused over. Again i still stand corrected.
Still need the HQ to provide somebody the info so I can figure out how much my wicked kitty is worth.

Dan,
You thinking of trading yours in? What would you get that you feel has even half as good of a floor plan?

Your gearing up for a Bus ? I've seen some new model Blue Bird Buses I'd like to have. If only I could talk somebody into buying me one.

Re: Wildcat Sterling
Life is fluid. Never know what is ahead. The model of bus I really liked has been discontinued. Shows you how life changes. I keep wanting to sell the place and move to Bend or travel in a bus. DW dead set against it. Also my disabilities are worse than hers and there are times I need home real bad. There is no place like home. So we just take it one day at a time. 5ths and buses both have strengths and weaknesses. If you live in it and travel, calling no place home, a bus is the only way to go. The good Lord has provide us with a way to enjoy ourselves in the autumn of our lives. Great kids and GKs, income is great, got a great house(bank owns it), a Ford truck that moves, and a Wicked kitty to keep us comfortable when we travel. Most of all I have been married to a great lady for over 42 years. 20 plus have been really trying for her. Somehow she keeps me around. We just have to see what today has in store for us, tomorrow will come soon enough and let the good Lord worry about the future.

Well said Dan. Now, you have a Fork truck... or a Ford truck? Just had a mental picture of a fork truck backing down the highway with a Cat in tow.
Being from Louisiana and living in Texas now, I've seen stranger things. I've probably done stranger things, but that's as far as I'll go.

If I got a wild hair and traded mine in right now, I'd probably want as much in trade as I pd for it considering all I've done to it. Since that won't happen, I'm inclined to keep this one until the wheels fall off. That way, when I do finally get something else, I'll be quite sure I didn't get screwed on trade-in value.

Re: Wildcat Sterling
Wouldn't want a bus. Then we'd have to tow a car. Would rather have a truck and pull a trailer. Only time I'd want a MH is if it's raining and we need to stop to rest. We usually have enough flexibility that we can just hole up for a day or so if it's raining.

Tow a car or tow a 5th wheel. Tow either way. Getting to the time where a 23 foot truck is a mind bender to get around. Would not tow with a short wheel base. Playing Russian roulette with that. Does not matter if is has been 20 years or 2 years of towing. The clock is ticking for an accident.

But, the truck is a lot more useful on an everyday basis. Would be absolutely rediculous to try to haul sheets of plywood in a MH.

Re: Wildcat Sterling
I have a Forest River Sierra TT now and it has been a good one,DW loves it but I have to have a fifth wheel, I have heard it pulls a little better and I need more storage, thats 30ft or less with a bedroom slide. I wanted the 29rlbs but I waited too long and now its gone. I like the 29rlbs ,it had a lot of storage space and the bedroom was tall enough for me,6ft 4in. The new Wildcats I like but the size, I like the Level-up, I am not young and my DW likes the side aisle bathroom, there is only the 2 of us. I have found a Heartland Sundance 2800rl that DW wife likes but I have had good luck with Forest River and I would like to stick with them. I plan to tour the factory in the next two months and Heartlands too.
