Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
I am almost to the point and attempting to try adjusting the slide myself. The problem I'am having is that the main slide is rubbing harder on the carpet than I like. To the point that the outside bottom of the slide is rubbing on that long plastic ramp thats joining the main floor of the trailer. This is causing the plastic wraping to tear.
I looked at the manual from the Lippert Site and it gives directions for making a vertical and horizontal adjustment to the slides. I think its the vertical adjustment I need to do to raise the slide up about 1/16 on an inch off the plastic piece/carpet. Just curious if anyone has done this yet????

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
We had to adjust our slide because it wouldn't go out all the way, and we could see light coming through.
I remember some people did some adjustments when they were getting water on the inside when driving in rain. I don't remember if they had good results or not.
Just be sure to mark the positions that you have now, and if your adjustments don't work you can go back to the original.
Good luck.

Bsmall2800 any chance of a picture
I would have thought that the slide needs to be on the plastic because of the weight. the only thing I can think of is the slide needs to have a little bit of a fall to the outer edge of the slide, that way when the slide travels in/out it should run slightly higher and not rub so much on your carpet.
My main slide has quite a fall to the outer edge, but does not rub on the carpet or leave any marks.

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
I adjusted our main slide within a few weeks of ownership.
Ours simply was not sealing when in the out position. It was a quick and easy fix using the info from Lipperts online manual.
If I remember correctly I only needed two 3/4" wrenches or sockets to get the job done.
One thing I did find was adjusting in/out also effected the tilt of the slide so I had to adjust the up/down a little as well.
Like Tater said - Mark your current settings before adjusting and you can always return to the factory setting if unsatisfied.

I'm going to have to do this in the spring also. My main slide rubs the carpet too hard on one side. It's causing the carpet to buckle up.

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
Thanks for the replys. I will mark what I have and attempt to take some pics of where its rubbing. As far as the slide box using the plastic ramp if you will thats attached to the floor, if I put some tape on the plastic cover that has been torn, the tape unrolls while sliding accross the carpet...
Going out to tackle this project now, will report back with I hope good results...

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
Ok I attempted to make the adjustment and couldn't get it raise off the carpet, or for that matter it was still making contact with the metal carpet retainer where the carpet joins the lino floor. That was even after taking a hammer and flatening the metal carpet rail. So I took it back to the dealer and let them figure why it won't adjust properly.
So hopefully I will know something by the middle of the week, good bad or indifferent...

Please let us know what they did, if they will show you. I need to do the same thing, but my dealer went under earlier this summer.

I'm also interested in what you find out. Ours started rubbing at the beginning of the season and the carpet on one side is really worn down to the threads. The black material under the slide is torn in places a little bit. I put black duck tape to try, but no luck, it just balled it up. I tried some adjustments, but could not understand how to relieve this pressure at the bottom.

I did the exact same thing with the same results, then tried to adjust and couldn't get the pressure off the box of slider... My carpet is wearing out where the slide runs on top of the carpet on the rear portion of the slide along with the glue residue making the carpet black.
If they get it raised I will inquire as to how it was done and will pass it on..
I hope they can do it, I sure dont want to see it have to go back to the factory to be rebuilt......

Bill,
This won't fix the adjustment issue but may get you by. At least protect your carpet and such. Lippert sells these things called Slide Out Slickers. I've been using mine for years. They work great and keep the carpet clean and dry. In the pics, you can see them laying on the floor. The slide rides ontop of them. They have channels for water to drip into if the slide was wet. I used them since I took delievery and I have no stains or worn areas.

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
Thanks for the pictures Earl, I did order a set the other day, should be in on the 11th. I am hoping they get this resolved at the dealer. Once I get it back I plan on using the slickers on top of the carpet...

Oh man, I need a set of those. I've got a nasty black streak in the carpet where the slide runs. Great find!

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
Here is what the dealer did with the Cat. They also found like I did, that the slide was rubbing on the carpet fastener. They called a carpet guy out to look at what could be done about the carpet fastener where it meets the lino. He said the carpet could be rolled and attached to the lino without the use of the metal strip. So thats what he ended up doing. He also cleaned the carpet where the slide made those ugly black marks on the surface.
It actually looks great, and now there is nothing hard (metal) to tear the plastic wrapping around the bottom fo the slide. I will also try using those plastic Slickers that I bought to lay on top of the carpet at the ends of the slide.
Hopefully I will get the same results while using the Slickers that others here have managed to get.
Bottom line is they think for some reason there was a height issue with the metal carpet strip in that particular area of the kitchen floor. The slide couldn't be adjusted any higher than where it was. Maybe the weather who knows. I will continue keeping an eye on the area, making sure nothing changes...
So I am keeping my fingers crossed that this problem/issue has been resolved once and for all.......

Re: Adjusting The Slide Anyone Try It Yet????
I don't know if it was someone in this forum, or another forum that I read. The person bought clear carpet protector from a home improvement store (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.). It comes in rolls and you buy as much as you need. It's used a lot in high traffic areas. The person cut it into strips. It's heavy enough to stay in place, and costs less than the product mentioned above...... or so they say.

Sruffy & Tater just said the magic words. Wow, what an idea. I have some of that stuff rolled up in our basement that we used when we built our house. I still will have to figure out how to adjust my slide though. I hate to have to take it back to the dealer. But at this rate, the carpet will not last much longer. Thanks for the idea!!
