slide out Question

Post by onetonford on 11/2/2010, 2:20 pm

Does anybody have a clue to the rod that extends from slide out to frame.
What is it for? The Bracket it is mounted to is real close to the tire when the slide is closed is about 1 - 1-1/2 from the tire.
I was Just wondering?

I would love to see what FR did with your wire harness on yours.... I know some have had some problems with their plastic hangers breaking. Then in 2010 FR began using the system I have, at least on the west coast built models.

My 2009 was built in 2008 (purchased in Aug 2008) and it has the coiled cord on the rod, so the West Coast factory has been doing it since 2008.

Mine is a 2011 built in 2010
Just want to redo bracket closer to fender wanted to make sure it wasn't for something else before moving it away from tire the other side is even closer to tire. So it will be getting moved also. deadhorse

On that paticular slide it also has the gas line for the refrigerator. which is attached to the folding plastic rail.

My 04 has the cord on the rod as well. I'm always concerned the rod will wear through the wire someday.

My 2008 has the rod on one end with a wire coil ( not as neat as bsmall2800 though) and the dreaded plastic on the other end of slide for Gas and another wire not coiled or neat. This is just the main slide.

This looks a lot better than the plastic one on my Cat. But it looks like the one on onetonfords Cat gets very close to the wheels when the slides are in.

Re: slide out Question

My slides are hydraulic so rod has nothing to do with it. Pulled them off today and ran the slides everything works O.K. looked into hole were they slide an it is just a channel for it to go into. What happened I think is they mounted these to put wires onto them like Bsmall's but where the tires come they are to close so they mounted them around the other side of the slides. I looked on their (lippert) website at the parts lists for both the Electric and hydraulic systems and they do not show those rods so it is installed by forest River for the Wires. If I ever have a problem with my plastic hangers I will put an Idea I have into the trailer and I will pass it along.

One my trailer the bad is Mechanical Room Adjustment. See page 9 and 10 at this location. Onetonford the bar appears to be a room adjustment.

That rod you see is the end of the hydraulic cylinder/actuator on those pages. 9-10.

The rods I removed are not attached to the slide but the frame of the slide room.
as are the ones that Bsmall's have and others that I have seen.
