Electric heating
On my last trip I only used electric heating due to the fact I was paying for a hookup so I thought I would use it to the max and see what the results would be like.
With three electric heater to use I could not have picked a better time to give the Cat a test.
The heaters were 1 @ 1600 watt @240 v AC convector 1 @ 800 watt @ 240 v AC convector and the one built into the Cat which I think draws 1750 watts @ 120 v AC.
The Temp dropped to -2 deg C on 2 nights and we only used the large convector heater on half power to keep the chill off. And the lowest temp recorded was 12 deg C.
During the evenings we used both convectors which kept the temp up to +20 deg C. we hardly ever used the built in heater due to fan noise but we do like the flame effect.
I used the Gas furnace for a 10 minute period to test that it would still work with a convector heater being fixed over the top of the vent panel (which it did with no problems). I did not have a chance to use my tubular heaters due to not having time to wire a power circuit for them.

Re: Electric heating
WOW, when we would use our 1500W heater and run the TV, they would blow a fuse. You can use 2? WOW.
You have a built in electric heater????? Is it a fireplace type heater?

Yes it is a flame effect heater, which is 120 volt built into the entertainment centre. The power supply we had on our last trip was 16amp @ 230 volts. I have a 5 kv 230 to 120 converter for built in appliances, Fire, fridge etc, and a separate ring main for our 230 volt equipment, which has a RCD that protects the 230 volt circuits which will run to a max of 20amps 4600 watts, if we had that amount of supply

Re: Electric heating
I'd love to see a pic of your fireplace. I'd like to see if we could find an electric fireplace to put below our entertainment center. We're concerned that with the Cat's thermostat just a few feet above that area, the heat from the electric heater would keep the furnace from working, which wouldn't be good if we wanted to keep the underbelly warm. Where is your thermostat located, and does the electric heater affect the performance of the furnace?

Re: Electric heating
Sean's 1600 watt and 800 watt heaters only pull 10 amps @ 240V.
