Turning Table - Tom

First topic message reminder :

Tom (oldelmer1),
This is directed mostly to you. When you turned your table in your former wonderful Wildcat, did you screw it back into the floor? We are in the process of turning ours, but don't want to screw it down as we sometimes have friends over to eat or play cards.

So far, Scruffy has made a new base for the table to keep it from tilting if someone leans on it. To someone without this style of table - the legs make a sort of pedestal and the table's base doesn't extend very far to the sides..... so, a good lean could tip it. I'll post photos when it's all done.

Our concern now is that, not being screwed down, the table might "walk" or tilt into the large window. We're working on some tie-down ideas, but would really like to know if it has to be screwed down, or if it would remain stationary.

We've purchased some folding chairs to replace two of the OEM dining chairs, and the folding chairs have a place in the underbed storage upstairs.

you have a wall next to the couch??? Hmm, I don't think anyone else has one of those in an RLBS unit.

If you look real close to my picture, you can see that we put our chair between the couch and the table for traveling.

3 inch screws are pretty long, what are you going to use them for?

Why is your slide floor soft?

Alright sir I will try to explain. Being a Portagie this maybe fun. We call it a wall but it is part of the frame for the couch/fold out bed. We do not have a regular couch. Something we did not order and something that we just decided not to fight for change.

When we turn our table we will hook the chairs up to the swing arms. We find those very useful.

3inch was a funny. Never work

Our slide floor gives about 1/2" in middle.(maybe a little less) Right were your table and couch meet. I am chewing on a fix which would include some stove bolts, washers, screws, a piece of aluminum angle, construction glue, and the frame of the couch. Short version. I plan to drill holes in the slide floor and bolt the floor to the couch. Being that stove bolts have small round heads this should not bother the operation of the slide at all. They are in the bedroom slide and it works fine. I think the plywood in the floor is about 3/4 of an inch. So as soon as my trailer gets back from the repair man my work begins.
