Turning Table - Tom
Tom (oldelmer1),
This is directed mostly to you. When you turned your table in your former wonderful Wildcat, did you screw it back into the floor? We are in the process of turning ours, but don't want to screw it down as we sometimes have friends over to eat or play cards.
So far, Scruffy has made a new base for the table to keep it from tilting if someone leans on it. To someone without this style of table - the legs make a sort of pedestal and the table's base doesn't extend very far to the sides..... so, a good lean could tip it. I'll post photos when it's all done.
Our concern now is that, not being screwed down, the table might "walk" or tilt into the large window. We're working on some tie-down ideas, but would really like to know if it has to be screwed down, or if it would remain stationary.
We've purchased some folding chairs to replace two of the OEM dining chairs, and the folding chairs have a place in the underbed storage upstairs.

Re: Turning Table - Tom
Hi Tater,
Yes, I did put just 2 screws back into the legs to hold it down. I had thought about not putting them back in, but I have(had) noticed that sometimes our couch would walk around in the slide.
So, I thought it would be best to put 2 back in.
Our NEW WONDERFULER Montana's (
) table top rotates and slides either way just with a pull of a pin underneath the table top.
I would put at least 2 back in. If Scruffy carries a battery drill with you, it only takes seconds to remove 2 screws.
Which folding chairs did you get? Some friends of ours have a KZ and it has them too. VERY NICE!!!

Tom,
Thanks for the info. Interesting - our sofa doesn't move an inch. Now that I've said that, it will probably move all over the place.
We ordered a set of folding chairs from Amazon. They are called - True Mission Wood Folding Chair with Vinyl Seat in Oak - and come in a set of 2.
Here is a photo:

I don't like the vinyl seats, so have bought and cut fabric to make new seat covers. All we have to do now is staple them on.

I believe they have folding chairs in different styles, not just the Mission style. The Mission style is the closest match we could find for the Wildcat chairs.
You planning on doing the table mod to your Montana?

I have the table and chair option in my Cat and it doesn't seem to move when traveling, but this could be because the chairs lock on to the table by a rotating bar on the table legs.

We also put a bungee cord around the legs of the chairs to help hold them in place as we travel down the road.

Re: Turning Table - Tom
Sean,
That's the same table that we have - and what Tom had. Those little holes on the ends of the bottom piecies of the legs is where it should be screwed to the floor. I think yours have little wooden plugs in them. We quit using the wooden hooks to fasten our chairs because they were such a PITN... and instead had a long braided strap that went all around the chairs and table when we were traveling.

Hi Sean,
OK, now I know what you were talking about, as Tater stated, that is what we use to have also, and I agree with Tater, the bar was a PITN and we stopped using them and just use the bungee cord.
Our MONTANA doesnt have anything to hold the chairs, but we still use the bungee cord on them also.

This is one of the folding chairs with new fabric on the seat.

Folded.

In it's custom made velour case to keep it from getting scuffed.

Both chairs in their storage place under the bed.

Tater,
GREAT JOB on the seat cover.
I really do miss all the storage from under the bed, our Montana only has maybe 5 inches.
Do you think these chairs would fit into a 5 inch space?

Re: Turning Table - Tom
Tom, the folded size is 7". These are made by Stakmore, and all of the Stakmore chairs show the folded size of 7". There were more by other manufacturers that didn't include that information, but by looking at their websites found others that were 7" to 7 1/4"
They might stand up in your closet with the help of a bungee cord. Our original plan was to just put them on the floor between the table legs and window, but decided that just wouldn't look very neat.
The Stakmore chairs seem to be well built and sturdy. If you do a search for Stakmore in Amazon, you'll see several different styles. Or search for folding chairs to see the ones by other manufacturers.

The space under the bed is to hide the bodies of our obnoxious guests.
Until the smell gets noxious.

While towing we take our table and pull it away from the wall, we use it with the long edge against the long window. Then I lay it down on the long edge with the table top next to the wall. We use throw pillows to keep it from shifting fore/aft. About the only way it can shift is the feet running into the kitchen, and in about 35,000 miles it never did it.

Dan, all you have to do is remove the 4 screws in the feet that hold the table down. Move it to where you want it to be, then put them back in. The screws are not too long to go through the slide floor.

Sry did not explain myself very well. We barely have enough room with the table the way it comes from the factory. I am wondering if the couch is to long for our arrangement. They had to cut the day and night shade covers to get the chairs to fit as is. If we turned it we would only be able to get chairs on one side.

Dan,
There is only the 2 of us, so we only carry 2 chairs. Are you carring all 4 chairs? do you need all 4?
Our table was all the way up in the corner, with the 2 chairs only on 1 side for traveling, then when setup, 1 chair was on hte long side, the other on the end.

There is an idea I will have to discuss with the boss. When you slide the chair do you every catch the carpet flap on the slide? That idea will help us out in another area 2. Our slide floor is a little soft next to the couch. If I turn the table and slide it up to the side of the couch you may not notice the soft spot.(Someday may need the whole floor in the slide replaced.) Yes we carry 4 chairs. You ask a very good question. Why? Have no answer but 2 will be leaving. We also have a short wall between the couch and the area were the table resides. May have to look at removing it. Never know what it might hide.

Reference to space under the bed. My wifey and I both agree that the space under the bed is a pain in the arse to get to. Not into mattress wrestling. Anybody with a FR product (29 or 30) ever attempted to but a door on the front or side of the wooden bed frame. I would have to block off the ram that is under the bed. But it could be due able.

Tom - Thank you for your suggestion concerning the table turning. While out there investigating this matter I may have found a way to support the slide floor. There side wall of the couch is not screwed to the slide floor. About six screws and some construction glue my help the problem. Now off to the RV shop on Monday to find out how thick the floor is. Need to figure out if 3 inch screws will work.

Dan,
you have a wall next to the couch??? Hmm, I don't think anyone else has one of those in an RLBS unit.
If you look real close to my picture, you can see that we put our chair between the couch and the table for traveling.
3 inch screws are pretty long, what are you going to use them for?
Why is your slide floor soft?
