Planning Trip
We are planning a trip to Mt. Rushmore area next year. Heading there from northern Illinois June or July. Looking for info and good campgrounds (for kids) and any other ideas to visit out that way. Wanting to hit a rodeo also while there. Throw some ides at me as what to visit and do since I have never been out that way. Thanks

Re: Planning Trip
Very close to mount rushmore, crazy horse, Hill City, keystone, custer state park and numerous hiking trails, horseback riding, and fishing. Mikkelson bike trail goes right by the campground too. We stay here every year for a week in mid june and love it!!! Full hook ups, easy to get a site tucked away from the rest, and kid friendly. It seems a little pricey, but if you look at the ammenities, it isn't bad. KOA has one just down the road, but it is more $$ and they pack them in like sardines...IMO. Shoot me a PM if interested, I might be able to recommend a good area of the campground to stake a claim.

Re: Planning Trip
Crazy horse usually has a small rodeo every year in mid june. It usually is included in the price of admission to the monument. Here is their site for 2010. You just have to check back or call them to see what 2011 has in store. BTW it is just a few minutes drive from rafter J bar.
