Interesting Dealer Experience
With 117,000 miles on the Ram, little things are starting to break.
*On our way home I noticed a really heavy drone when towing. Found out that the tailpipe had seperated from the muffler (muffler nipple rusted through).
*Going to the PO to pick up the mail I was surprised to hear a heavy duty rattle coming from the engine compartment. The water pump impeller ate itself.
*Since October is my birth month it was time to renew the registration and get the truck inspected.
So, I took the truck into the dealer for repairs and inspection. This is a trusted dealership with highly trained diesel service techs. Had the repairs made and the inspection done. Picked up the truck and started home.
Halfway home I stepped on the brake pedal as I exited I-93 and heard a "CLUNK" followed by a rubbing sound from the right rear.
Took it back to the dealer and said, Hey, wazup here? Dealer took the truck in and found that the right rear caliper had not been retightend after it was taken off for the brake/rotor inspection and that a bolt had fallen out while I was driving. Turns out an apprentice was helping the tech that day and didn't do his job properly. I mentioned to the embarassed service writer that the technician didn't do his job either in not following up on the apprentices work.
Got a couple of freebee's out of it and an apology from the the Service Writer, the Tech and the Service Manager.
All is OK. No harm done. But this was a first for me with this dealer's service department which is usually A1.
