Damage to Cat Part 2 (spoke with dealer)

Post by bsmall2800 on 10/21/2010, 3:38 pm

Spoke with the dealer today and found out you can't just order one support arm for the Dometic Awning. So for two new supports $695.00 plus installation, one hot water heater cover and frame $50.00. So I figure it should be right around $1000.00 by the time its all said and done. Only bright spots are I will have an extra support arm stored away in the garage, and a 13" wider opening for the RV gate.
Can't wait to get it back the RV-Pad sure looks lonely....

Gotta hate when stuff like that happens. But the good is the trailer wall wasn't damaged. Insurance picked up the cost, correct?

No Earl, I have a $1000.00 deductable on collision and $100.00 on comp. So its out of pocket for me on this one....live and learn is the flavor of the day.

Ok picked up the Cat today from the dealer. I have to say at least they kept it under $1000.00 by six dollars. Awning works like new again, and I am a proud owner of an extra Dometic front Awning support. Guess I will be keeping it boxed up and in the garage and sell it to someone that tears the front one out thumbUp

They also adjusted the main slide, so I'll keep an eye on it making sure its not making contact with the metal carpet fastener any longer.

Glad your unit is back together! May I ask why your deductable is so high? Mine is 500/500 and my plan costs me 350 a year. I have Progressive RV insurance. I got nailed by lightning in June 2009 and fried pretty much everything. They covered everything and never raised my rate. I only had insurance through them for 9 months when it happened.

Earl, following this incident I have changed my deductable to $200.00 for collision and $100.00 on comp. I think I can live with those numbers.

Bill,
I don't blame you at all for lowering the deductibles! I just renewed mine and my deductibles are lower. My plan includes diminishing deductibles and I didn't know it. Very nice surprise!! So they are now 375 Comprehensive 375 Collision and 100 Personal effects.

Sound good Earl, mine like yours wasn't that much more after lowering the deductibles. Can't wait to for OneTonFord to post a picture of his slider wire harness holder!
