Yellowstone Trailering

Post by Hattrick on 10/17/2010, 11:43 am

We are planning a trip through Yellowstone in early Nov. and we were wondering if anybody out there has towed a 5th wheel through the park and what the road conditions were like. This is our first year with our 31TS. Is there a route that would be better suited for this unit. We are on our way from Alberta to Phoenix for the winter.

Tower pass would be less than enjoyable but the rest is doable.
We towed our fiver out Beartooth 212 highway and thought it was easier than Tower empty.
My biggest concern is snow in November. Gardiner MT
might be open but where to go from there would TBD. I would guess you could go out the South entrance but weather would dictate. Roads in summer would be fine.

I have pulled in from the South (Grand Teton's) and from Cody with no problem. However both times we were much earlier like in Oct. Snow maybe a problem now, make sure you check the weather reports. Good luck

I remember visiting Yellowstone (not camping) in early May of 1994. Gardiner entrance was open, but the Grand Teton entrance (south pass) had just been cleared of snow and opened, and the eastern pass was still closed.

Tough weather out there. affraid
