Cold weather camping. Dehumidifier question.

Post by BayouDude on 10/11/2010, 2:30 am

I would like to use the Cat more in the winter and am wondering what ya'll do to stop the walls from sweating. I am looking into dehumidifiers right now but am not sure exactly what I need. Any suggestions so I can use the cat down here with the heater on and not wake up to dripping walls?

We LOVE to winter camp! Competition for a good spot is LOW!!

We have a small table top dehumidifier that we keep in the Cat, but rarely have the need for it. Ventilation seems to be the key to keeping down humidity buid-up.

Also, for the windows, we'll put on 3M window insulator plastic to keep moisture from buiding up on closed windows.

One other thing we did was to put an exhaust fan in our ceiling vent over the galley, so when we're boiling water, making soup, etc. that puts off alot of moisture, we can suck quite a bit right straight out. You can use the fan on your stove hood, but that's typically not enough in the winter.

Others may have more or better ideas, but these are some of the things we do for moisture.
