Manual operation of electric awning
Hi All,
I was just reading an online manual of the operation of my power awning. There is instructions on how to manually retract the awning if I need to. They say to insert the pull strap and remove a screw. WHAT PULL STRAP??? Never got one. Do any of you with electric awnings have a strap to do this? Just wondering.

Re: Manual operation of electric awning
Yes Jim, I got one in a plastic baggie with some Dometic information about the awning. I am sure if you don't have one any longer you could get on Dometic's web site and order one.
I hope this helps you out....

Hi Jim,
As BIll said, you should have a strap in a baggie somewhere in the Cat. I found mine in the bottom drawer in the kitchen about 4 months after buying her.
The strap is a nylon webbing about 1 inch wide (black) with a piece of plastic "rod" at one end. The rod part is inserted into the awning channel and postitioned at the half way point of the awning. Someone holds the strap while you remove the screw / bolt. Once the screw / bolt comes out the awning will retract by itself. MAKE SURE the person holding the strap has a good grip. It if gets away from you it can be ugly!
Once its retracted you can use the strap to extend it and then re-insert the bolt.
You probably knew all that.... so I hope you find the strap (or you can make one a lot cheaper than buying one).
Good luck!

Its a standard awning pull strap. Don't forget to pack a screwdriver or you won't be able to manually operate it.

Going away for the weekend and will look when I get to the campground, but I don't think I have it. Thanks for the responses. Have a good weekend everyone.
