TV shelf moved and placed in kitchen for counter space.

Post by ENGR55 on Wed Oct 06, 2010 9:27 am

Hey guys,

I relocated the tv shelf from my bedroom to the kitchen for more counter space. I installede a small block of wood so the mounting bracket would have something to screw to with some strength. It does cover the drawers when down, but worth the trae off.

Good idea, and a very neat looking job, but did your Cat not come with the counter extension?.
Must admit though we do not use ours because it is quite big.
Now where did I put that saw scratch

Yeah Sean, my WC is a 2003 BH model, no extension. The TV shelf was useless, because it was attached to the paneling wall board with very weak support. I would never have placed a TV there anyway for fear of it falling off.

Our Cat came with the counter extension. We keep meaning to cut it to about 12inches, and attaching it as ENGR55 did with his TV shelf. Our model didn't come with that TV shelf. We also have another idea that will sort of go with the counter extension, if/when we ever get it done. Maybe when we get home from our little camping trip we can get started.

I do use my tv shelf in the bedroom, (15 in flat screen) and when traveling the tv just fits between the side wall cupboard and the ceiling. But I do agree the shelf if very flimsy.

Sweet! I'll have to use this mod when I add a LCD tv to the bedroom wall where the current fold down TV shelf is.

Ahh flat screen in the bdr, I am headed that way too. Would'nt it be great if RV manufacturer's actually listened to the typical Rv consumer. I mean how much extra could it cost to build sturdy walls for mounting brackets on. Heres another great idea, duh how about giving a set of blueprints to the owner of where all structural components (studs), and elect., plumbing etc. are located. So frustrang to pay so much and only get a packeof all the appliance manuals and no actual chassis and coach operater manual. ...Oooops sorry I went off on a rant..

If you look at the outside walls an a cold damp morning you can see the outline of the stud work, the wall is usually drier so it shows up.

This is what I did. Sometimes it's a hassel to get into the drawers, but the space is worth it.
