TX - Dallas area - south - Cedar Hill State Park

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 10/5/2010, 9:49 am

We are at Cedar Hill State Park in Cedar Hill, TX... on Joe Pool Lake. This is a large SP..... most of the sites are wooded. It's hard to find a site long enough for our trailer that has a water view. Many of the pads in the water view sites are less than 20 feet long.

It's a nice park. The comfort stations are clean. All sites have water and electric, but no sewer. Only work campers have sewer hookups. The pad our trailer sits on is narrow, but it has a very large cleared area for our table/shelter and firepit.

Since we don't have a water view, we packed a picnic lunch and drove over to one of the day-use areas. The day-use areas are set up very well, with excellent paved parking and shelters over most of the picnic tables.

It's quiet during the week, but we think it might get rowdy on the weekends. We're not weekend campers. Being retired, we can occupy a campsite on weekdays when it's peaceful, and we can leave the campsites for the younger, working people on weekends.

Since we bought the TX SP annaul pass, we'll probably camp here again (in addition to several TX SPs that we'd like to visit).

Here are a couple photos:

Awesome guys. Dad has stayed there before, but we have not. Dad's description pretty much echoes what you are saying. A great little park.
