Cost of a new 2011

Post by rdsknfn_57 on 10/3/2010, 1:19 pm

First topic message reminder :

I saw a new 2011 chevy crew cab 4x4 2500HD D/A sitting out by the edge of the dealership last thursday so i stopped and looked. This silverado was fully loaded , the sticker price w $60,837. On friday i took my daughters car to the ford dealership for service and while i was there i walked around and looked at the F250 crew cab 4x4 diesels and there sticker was $61,424 now both dealerships did have cheaper diesel trucks on there lots , the chevy dealer said that they have sold 2 new 2011 and the ford dealer said that they have sold 6, 2011 in the last two weeks, Just makes me wonder how high the price will go to own a new TV.

Scott Z, Clearly your term "tree hugger" is clearly meant to be an political knock ~ is that the direction this site is going?
I don't know if I'm a "Tree Hugger" or not (never been an "activist") but I would prefer that a few of them stick around so we have someplace to go camping, enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and pass something on to our children.
If that makes me a "Tree Hugger" then so be it.

I respectfully disagree - neither I or for that matter, do most Americans or democratic societies shy away from debate.
I do thank you for answering my question though.
I have no interest in political sites of either side.
Good by.

From what I've read in all the sales literature, the de-rating of both the Ford and Dodge 450/4500 chassis engines has nothing to do with "tree hugger's" but has everything to do with marketing. They believe the operators of these commercial grade trucks are more interested in fuel economy (or as they put it; Cost of ownership) than all out performance.

I'd have to agree with ScottandGrace on that one. You can always build your truck out the way you want it with aftermarket performance parts. If you can afford it. I won't have to worry about the issue cause unless I hit the lotto theres no way I could plunk down that kinda money on a new truck. The better part of my brain would tell me to buy more land. $60 K can still buy a nice parcel around here.

i bought one of those platinums...it takes weeks to learn how to use everything in them..the retraction running bars are a nice feature, but these trucks are gutless...so we chipped it, and it only helps a little.
the best mileage has been 18 hwy without towing.

One thing for sure is that prices are not going down, unless our monetary system crumbles. Back in the early 70's, houses were going for low 20K. Now, that will not be a down payment on a TV. affraid

You should see some of the lake house prices around here. They dropped like a rock. Its just everyone's scared to go for a loan or the bank just won't givem one. I've seen a couple places around here I'd love to put a offer on for a weekend getaway place on the lake. I know the bank would give me the money, I just don't have the nerve to take it right now.

Around here, 60K would buy you 1/2 to 3/4 of an acre. And you have to have at least 1 acre to build on.

Around the country side here 60K can still buy probably around 6acres if its not in a subdivision. Sometimes around 5K an acre .

Here it was 5K per acre back in 1974.
Before the economy went south, one acre was going for 100K.
Of course now that California is bankrupt and going down in flames, land might be free sometime soon. lol!

i bought 5 acres with a 1600 sq ft home for 35 grand...put another 30 grand into it and it's a great vacation cabin up north.
and talk about secluded in the woods !
they had it on the market with a starting price of $159,000.

right place, right time..and cash talks.

they'll give you a lot for free if you move to S. Dekota. And make you a heck of a loan to build your house.
