Brand new Wildcat 2009 30LSBS

Post by BlueFizzy on 10/2/2010, 10:47 am

My wife and I have found two fifth wheels we are very interested in. One is a never been titled 2009 30LSBS, we really like it but I have some concerns as it has several marks and scratches from sitting on the dealers lot for two years. Would you be concerned about purchasing something like this?
The other fifth wheel is a very lightly used 2008 Cardinal 30TS with an Onan generator. Can anyone recommend a good site to figure what I should offer for these or give some advice?

I kinda like getting one thats been setting around awhile ~ mine was about 8 mos old. You can tell right away if its been leaking. Unlike getting a brand new one that hasn't had a chance yet. Make sure you check around the bottom corner floor area where the slideout comes in. Some models have had leak issues there.

BlueFizzy welcome to the forum
Both units are nice 5th wheels. I think what ScottandGrace said is good advice.
Does a dealer have these units. if so will this dealer look after you long after the sale Question

These are both at the same local dealer. They have been in business for quite awhile. I am really torn right now on which one to go with, thanks for the advice.

If price is even remotely close, I would go with the Cardinal.

Better build quality and higher end product than the Wildcat.
Cardinal has long been known as top of the line for Forrest River 5ers.

I did a quick google search for a 2008 Cardinal 30TS. I seen two for sale on dealer lots with the asking price of $37K and $40K.

Don't be afraid to offer a low ball price for either of the units you are interestred in. They likely made a killing on the Cardinal trade in and the Wildcat has been sitting for 1.5 years too long.

DO NOT forget that Tyres do not like sitting about on the same spot so check the tyres if you go for the 30LSBS (I love my 30LSBS) but there has been issues that I have had to sort out my self due to the fact that it now lives in the U.K.
And also a big welcome from the U.K.

I paid 26.5K for mine 3 yrs ago with slideout covers. That will give you something to go on. Like they said I would low ball them and see what they say.

Just got back from the dealer. I made an offer on the Cardinal. We played the games and they are supposed to get back to me with their best price on both the Cardinal and the Wildcat. So...we will see what happens,

Thank you all for the welcomes and advice! We haven't reached a deal yet. I think we will wait a month or so and try again.

BlueFizzy welcome from Florida. Go to RVWholesales.com and look at the cost of a new Wildcat. They give a good price to me and one other dealer also down in Dayton, Oh that sells alot of Wildcats and I think it Couch's RV. Take a look on the search section and get some more ideas. Do lots of research and best luck on your selection.

We went shopping again yesterday. Looked at the 2009 30LSBS again. Then we looked at another dealer and found a 2011 31TS. We ended up buying the 31TS and we pick it up on the 18th. Laughing
