32QBBS w/ 1/2 bath option - Entertainment Center
Does anyone else have the 32QBBS with the half bath option?
We do. We have the 2009 model. The entertainment center is to the left of the stairs leading up front.
(I will post a picture.) The TV is a wall mount. Under that is a very shallow shelf, then under that is a 'hole'. The area is about 4"deep x 22"wide x 18" high. It contains the access panel to the shower connections, a receptacle, satellite, and other AV connections. This seems like wasted space. The shelf is not really deep enough to hold anything, and if you put DVDs there, then you can use the connections.
I am wondering if any of you DIYers have had this same 'void' and have come up with any useful ideas for this wasted space. My wife wants a fireplace there, but it is not deep enough. (The tub wall is also back there.)
Thanks for any suggestions.

Here it is... (The big box on the floor is a infared quartz heater. It can be rolled out of the way.)

We dont have the 1/2 bath option, but do have the same hole.
We found a small winerack that when we get to where were going put a bottle or two in there for later use.

You could put a shelf in it just above the connections, and put dvd's there, I guess. I think they'd stick out a little though, since a dvd case is about 5 inches. You could put knick-knacks on half of the lower shelf, and a small basket with silk ivy in front of the connections.
Do you think there might be a little room between that wall and the tub wall? Forest River would just extend that entire TV wall down that far because it's easy for them to do. Might also have some wiring in there. There probably isn't a "safe" way to find out without destroying the back of the shelf. Well, you could cut it out and replace it with luan that's stained to match your woodwork.
It definitely IS a wasted space as it is now..... but maybe was the only way FR could do it.

bags24 - don't drink wine, however, a wine rack still might be a good idea, if I could think of something else we could put in it.
Tater, we have actually talked about a shelf. I just don't want it to stick out too far, and am not sure if it is really enough room to put anything once it is there.
My DW thinks maybe we could put some sort of folding table top there to use for a printer or her laptop.
Any more suggestions???

Put some slats across the front and make it a magazine/map rack.
Your wife has a good idea about the laptop. Put slats across the front, pad it, and store the laptop there. Or you could attach a bungie cord inside instead of slats. Then put a drop down door on it (hinged at the top) and use it as a little desk. You could put a hole (or slot) near the top of the door (at the edge, big enough to hold all the cords/cables that would go through it).
I've been studying your photo. A door that's hinged at the top would probably be too high to use as a desk. Cut plywood the right size to fit the opening. Put something like mirror brackets (2 on each side, 2 on the bottom) on the front sides of the opening to hold the "door" in place - the brackets on the sides should swivel, but the ones on the bottom should be stationary. Put the top of one slat (probably the highest slat) at the heighth that would be comfortable to use as a desk. Attach brackets on the back side of the "door" that will hook over that slat. Attach 2 closet rod holders on the back side of the "door" that will hold legs when using it as a desk. Make a couple legs (out of a dowel rod) that could store in a convenient place. We have closet rod holders on our desk and they keep the legs secure. And, don't forget a slot on the side for cords to go through.
I'll try to think of more ideas.
