Under floor Insulation

Post by Sean on 9/29/2010, 2:02 am

In routing a cable for my reversing camera between the chassis rails of my Cat I could not see any Insulation, where does FR put it Question . It has made me think that I have just created another job to go on my to do list scratch Add Kingspan Insulation to the under belly area with out adding too much weight. Has anyone tried this before Question . And more importantly does it make a difference Question

My trailer has 2x4 floor joists under the marine plywood floor and thats where the insulation is. Most of the waterlines run through there too.

Scottand Grace when you uncovered the belly of your Cat could you see the timber structure Question . When I looked at mine in a few places it looks like there is a plastic membrane on the under side of the floor.
(I only loosened one side few bolts at a time to feed cable in between the chassis rails).

Wildcats aren't insulated in the belly, only in the flooring. Yes, there should be a black plastic moisture barrier on the bottom of the flooring than the frame and than the black plastic underbelly covering.

Sean, No, just dropping the cardboard style plastic will divulge the tanks and lots of other junk. Above the tanks is a black plastic canvas and above that is your insulation and floor structure.
You can see the bottom of the black plastic canvas if you look outside the frame rails. If you poke at it with your finger you can feel the insulation behind it.
