Post by mrwoodmin on 9/28/2010, 12:37 pm

I have a 2009 WC 32QBBS,I can't seem to find the drain petcock on the fresh water holding tank. I want to be sure its empty for winter. Thanks in advance.

Ours does not have a petcock. It only has a threaded cap on the drain hose under the tank. Simply unscrew the cap and drain. Replace cap.

My 2006 has one, but it's pretty easy to locate (rear of the camper on the driver side) hangs down, easy to see. I'm betting that if you can't see it it's just like the others in the previous posts.

Stand by your trailer where the fresh water fill tube is located. Now look under the trailer in this area. You should see two tubes stickiing out from the underbelly, one is the overflow tube and the other is the drain. On my trailer the drain tube is blue and has a screw cap on it.

Here's a pic of what it looks like.

I recently found a petcock that screws onto the end of the tube and it is so much easier to drain the fresh water tank with the new petcock. The next time I use our trailer I'll take a photo of it.

That's it Richard! Perfect picture. Where did you find the petcock to screw on?? While we don't really use our fresh water tank much (we usually have full hook-ups), it would still be easier to use!

Have any of you done any mods to the overflow line? I find that a good 1/4 of the tank splashes out of this overflow while traveling down the highway.

BayouDude, that was my next question!!!!!! Idea

On our old 5er the overflow tube ran up to the fill hole. If you look there should be a smaller hole to the side of the larger fill hole. This was where the overflow came out and it was much harder (impossible) to lose water from spillage. I have noticed as well that it's WAY easier to lose water with the current system.

What I've done is to simply use a zip tie and bend it over to "cap it". I am hoping to add some sort of valve, but haven't yet. Interested to see what others have done. I may even look at running the overflow line up to the fill spot, but not sure what an undertaking that would be.

I happened across a drain valve that fit at Home Depot in the pluming section.

Yes. I installed a hose barb and threaded cap just like on the drain line. No more lost water while traveling. Took longer to get the tools out than to do the job. Laughing

Lowes, Home Depot, ect... have what you need for about $5.00.

I would rather had a petcock/valve but couldn't find a small one like I wanted.

There are a few of us who routed the overflow line to the proper location by the filler neck.

I really don't understand why WC routed the overflow hose out the bottom, when they should have simply connected it to the overflow vent located next to the fill cap. I rerouted mine to the overflow vent where it should be with some difficulty getting the hose back through the wooded floor frame, but it works much better now, I would lose about 3-5 gals to the ground after filling from siphoning.
