EZ-Flex bushing installation issue

EZ-Flex bushing installation issue
I am in the process of installings the Dexter EZ-Flex system. In the process of removing the plastic bushings in the springs and installing the brass bushings I noticed that the bronze bushings are loose in the springs. The new bushings are .697 O.D. and the springs are .712 I.D. Has anyone else experienced this? I have the Lippert 5200 lb. axles from the factory (Made in China). I've read lots of the forums on the EZ-Flex and Equa-Flex installations and never heard anyone mention this issue. None of the plastic bushings were completely shot so I don't think the spring I.D. has been changed. The Dexter kit I purchased was the K71-652-00. Did everyone use the bushings that were supplied with the EZ-Flex kit?

Re: EZ-Flex bushing installation issue
Lograf are all parts from Dexter interchangeable with Lippert
I know that some of their brake assemblies are, but I can only assume that there have to be slight difference's, in some of there hardware other wise you will get people buying the cheapest parts from the appropriate company, I'll be interested in other people views on this as I want to install a set of wet bolts

Re: EZ-Flex bushing installation issue
As far as I can tell from looking on the Lippert website vs. Dexter the bronze bushings have the same dimensions. It looks like the difference is the I.D. of the springs. I can't find any details of what the spring I.D. is supposed to be. Anyway, from reading the forums sounds like quite a few people have used both EZ-Flex and Equa-Flex systems depending on ride height dimensions and no one ever mentioned this issue.

Re: EZ-Flex bushing installation issue
No yet, I checked several trailer supply stores around here and it seems the only springs that most are carrying are "Made in China" and they are all over sized I.D. on the springs. They must not hold the tolerances very tight. I am having a friend who has a lathe turn me some brass bushings the size I need. If I use the stock bushing with these springs they'd be shot in no time.

Re: EZ-Flex bushing installation issue
I have the EZ-Flex system, and the bushings are a snug fit. We do have 6000 lb. axles.

Well I am glad that you have found a solution to the problem, if it means that you have had extra expense having the bushes made.
But just think yours will most probably last the lifetime of the Cat
