removing carpet 28 rk
Hello all, Have a 2007 28 rk and the only thing we didn't like was the fact that there is carpet in the main level. Thinking about a laminate or vinyl. Question is will the slider clear the laminate? will it cut into the vinyl? on 2010 models same trailer they have vinyl on the main floor except the slide guess there are issues there about that I never seen a slide without carpet. Any help would be appreaciated before I rip up the carpet. Thanks ahead for any information.

I've seen this mod both here and on another forum I visit. If there is any vinyl at all on your main floor, it probably covers the entire floor.... under the carpeting and under the cabinets. The carpeting is just installed over it. I saw one mod where the owners were going to remove the carpet and install vinyl all over, but the original vinyl looked so good, they just used that instead. I've also seen mods where people installed woodgrain vinyl strips on the main level, and that looked great. Sometimes a search in this forum doesn't come up with everything. You might want to take the time to go over every title in the DIYs. You'll see lots of other good mods while you're at it.

Re: removing carpet 28 rk
I replaced the vinyl on our old 5er due to it cracking. Didn't completely remove the carpet, but I did cut it to within 10-12" of the slide. My wife said "don't remove it from under the slide cause it won't seal properly!!" but I disagreed. Then, when we went to buy our Wildcat the salesman said "you need that carpet there to get a good seal". . ..
I guess what I'm trying to say is, do your homework. Some seem to think that the carpet acts as a "gasket" under that slide out. I however do not believe that, but (also as my wife points out) I do not know everything!!! :)
Also, for what it's worth I never encountered any slide scratches on the vinyl that I installed.

thanks for info
what got me really thinking on this is that ther is vinyl under the cabinets so with vinyl in kitchen, at entrance and und cabinets I do believe they vinly the whole bottom then carpet. Up here in New England your out in woods or fields for sites. I for one am not a fair weather camper rain or shine im gone. But with carpet can get messy under any conditions especallily with teenager. thanks all
