Alternate power supply.

Post by BobnPi on 9/22/2010, 2:30 pm

How/where do you mount them and do they stay in that position when traveling/camping? Do you use a generator or an inverter and is there anything to consider (other than the Db level of noise) between the two?

Some have the gen's mounted in the front compartment under the pin box. Others have them mounted on platform hitches on the rear bumper. Theres a few pictures of both around here. Maybe in the DIY part of the gallery from the link at top.

I have my Gen-set in the bed of my truck, that way very little noise (62db at 7 mt) and no vibration. I have an older type Generator which is super silenced and Honda powered. I also have a inverter which is remote controlled and also switches on when no shore line, and off when shore line is connected.
Best of both worlds Cool
