Girard tankless water heater

Post by sib434 on 9/21/2010, 1:33 pm

First topic message reminder :

We just purchased a 32 qbt and it comes with the above mentioned water heater. I was just curious if anyone has had any problems or issues with this water heater. We upgraded from a TT and had a 6 gallon water heater, so that is the extent of my experience. Thanks

First Boondocking trip with new tank water heater that replaced Tankless....what a blessing to have hot water that we could control. Thanks to Jerry Rennert for listening to my concerns and for supplying the tank water heater for replacement.. He's a standup guy.

Fitchy wrote:We must be one of the lucky ones, as our TWH works fine. We find the shower to be the best part. Once set it stays the same temp from start to finish. Our daughter came this summer with us & her usual 15-20 minute showers. Not once did she ever complain. (Sure fills up the tank quick though) haha. We do have a problem with the kitchen faucet also, no hot water, warm at best. I think it's the faucet that is the problem, can't regulate the hot\cold. The bedroom sink is as hot as you want it. Weird!

Fortunately for us, you're not "one of the lucky ones" since the vast majority of our customers have no issues (other than learning how to use their new technology)! I only wish more people took the time, as you did, to post about things they like or things that work great. I'm guilty of this myself -- I think it's human nature (and definitely American culture) to voice a strong opinion when things don't go exactly as anticipated.

And while I'm aware of some customers had problems, the number of reports on problems, defects, or malfunctioning units from service and warranty is very low. Reading through the comments here can be somewhat misleading, since there's some very strong opinion and vocal speculation mixed in with a small number of actual end-users having issues in the field. I do not discount the complaints of our customers and hope we can resolve all outstanding issues (please see the contact information below if you experience any issues or need assistance).

That being said, I appreciate the positive comments here as much as I learn from the negative. By my count, there are 15 posting members who actually have the tankless water heater, with 6 of them positive, 6 of them negative, and "the jury's still out" on the other 3. The main point to be taken from the rest of the helpful critical comments (from current Wildcat owners without the tankless system) is that our customers want a choice.

Moving forward, we'll do just that. Wildcat offers the option of UPGRADING to the tankless water heater from a standard 10 gallon DSI "quick-recovery" gas/electric water heater. Every dealer will independently choose how they'll stock units on their lots, but all customer orders will get to select based on their specific needs or preferences. So our "5 hot showers in a row please" customer will still be able to do so happily, while our "I'm a Navy showers kind of camper" customer is also satisfied...

Chris,

Thank you for creating the option for these tankless water heaters. I have never used one so I cannot add anything about their possible issues. But, reading how some members here have had problems with how they function it was a concern of mine when I upgrade my trailer to a newer model. Now that I can investigate the type of water heater that suits my needs best, and then have the opportunity to choose, Wildcat has once again put itself at the top of my list for a potential purchase.

Fitchy I have the tankless and as I have posted before I love it. I had the same problem in the kitchen sink. I found when you turn the flow of the water way down it will get plenty hot. The water has to run much slower if you want it hot. When you have it on full stream it does only get warm as the wather spends less time in the heating unit. Hope this helps.

We have tried every way. At a slow trickle we get warmish water, I think we have a blockage or the mixing valve is wonky. My first fix after it warms up is to take it all apart & inspect the lines & faucet. Then onto installing the new LED's. Hurry up spring!!

Check out my topic in the Repair, Maintenance section on Water Leak, and note the picture. I suspect, as others do, this is the cause of why the Tankless doesnt work on some models if this is what their plumbing looks like.

Chris,
They did try, but I still wasn't happy with the performance and the micro adjustments it required. I wasted more water than I used so I sold it on Ebay for $350.00. Then went and purchased a tanked water heater for $15.00 dollars more. It has all the bells and whistles that you can get on a tanked heater.

I do give Jerry a lot of credit for trying!!
