mrwoodmin,

I purchased mine at the local hardware store. I had to go through a ton of bags to find four of the same key number, but it was worth it.

It's a very simple conversion; about a one wrench job on a scale of one to five. snoopy

We got ours from our local locksmith..... and put two on each door. We read somewhere that it was possible to turn the latch at one end and get the door open enough to get the locked side open. Scruffy changed them on every compartment, including the trash door. Our locks have the round holes instead of keyslots.

You should bring your KITTY to the U.K. that way your keys would only fit a few 5th wheels and you most probably would not see one anyway lol!

I changed all mine out, and installed two per door. I ordered the locks form a web site, but can't remember where. I'll see if I can find it.

Must have been on the old web sits. Anyway, I found what you need.

McMaster-Carr part # 1770A816. Catalog page 2932. These are keyed alike, order as many as you need. They are for 3/4" hole, 7/8" thick door.

If I recall correctly, I had to take the cams off my old locks and put them on the new ones; but it's been awhile.

Are the keys and locks heavier duty on the McMaster Carr product? I find the ones that came on the Wildcat are flimsy. I sometimes have trouble getting the key in and the key feels like it would snap in the lock fairly easy.

If you use a very small bit of graphite grease this will make all the difference to your locks. (be careful though it can stain).

Also, keep in mind, that as light weight as the cam locks are, the doors themselves are even lighter. If someone is determined to break in to a compartment, the lock (any lock) is not going to slow them down much.

We took our original locks into the locksmith and he rekeyed them. He said they were really not that bad of a lock (west coast model) It's been awhile but i think it was about 6 or 7 dollars per lock.

I changed the locks on my pass thru. Put 2 in each door. Did this because of the cloths basket I have there.

I thought about this too and came to the conclusion that there's nothing in there thats very valuable!
If someone breaks in then the damage would be worth more than the contents! So I just never lock them.
