Slide out rubbers
On one of my slide outs there is mastic over one of the inner rubbers, which sticks to the side when it goes in or out. I then have to squeeze my hand between the slide and pantry to re fix the rubber. I have cleaned the mastic off the slide but what can I use to clean mastic off the rubber
Of course I don't want to cause more problems by damaging it.

Re: Slide out rubbers
Sean,
On my CAT, it wasn't mastic, it was the rope caulk that was around the vinyl material behind the fascia of the slide out. It gets very soft and sticks to the rubber weather stripping. I cleaned both the slide and the rubber off with goof off and then put a strip of white electrical tape down the length of the slide, where the caulk is, so it wont stick to the ribber anymore when the slide is out. Been working for a few years not...

Re: Slide out rubbers
What a great time to post an article like this one. I have been fighting the same problem as noted in prior responses, and finally as we were leaving for the holiday weekend, I made the slide go back in before pulling out of the driveway. As I looked around the corner, six feet of my rubber seal was hanging on the outside of the WC. The sticky goo had probably got so hot and sticky, that it made the seal stick to the outer seal. No rain was in the forecast, so we left. I had to tuck it out of sight by hand. What a mess!! It is sitting in the driveway now, still not fixed. I cannot make my mind up if I can fix it or take it to the dealer. Anybody got any pointers on reattaching the seal? Not much room to work. Good thing I'm real slim. I have got to post a picture of this mess Forest River created.

Well James it seems that my problem was minor compared to yours, but I am sure there's any easy fix for the problem. post a picture and let every one know what seal it is, and I bet someone on the forum has done it or has worked in a dealership.

Re: Slide out rubbers
I had the same problem, thought it was the slide out of alignment.
Measured, remeasured slid it in a few times saw nothing wrong with the alignment.
Cleaned the caulk off and took it to the local shop. He put a harder grade caulk in that dried hard, now i just have to watch for cracks, but so far so good.
