Ants and a good way to fight them off.

Post by Admin on 9/7/2010, 2:59 am

The CG I stayed at this weekend is known for Ants. I sprayed well before and during and they still found ways to get in and on the camper. Talked to a guy a couple spots down from me that told me to use Ajax or Comet. Sprinkle that down and park on top of it and put it around where your electric and water lines touch the ground.

After he told me that I noticed a few more had done the same thing. they all said it worked great , no ants.

I'll be stashing some comet and ajax next to the hot shot from now on.

I had my local pest control guy spray my Cat as well when he serviced my home. We picked up some ants somewhere and could not get rid of them. One spray and they have been eliminated. Since he was spraying the house anyway, there was no extra charge. Doesn't keep them from getting in, but sure got rid of them. Nothing else I bought and tried myself seemed to work.

Our local news paper had a big write-up a month or two back about how the weather this year was perfect for bug proliferation.

We've NEVER had ants like we have them this year. They're everywhere!! Alfred Hitchcock could'a made a movie about it!!

Supposedly, if you put down talcum powder, ants will not cross over it.

I've never tried it, but I read it somewhere....

After reading Oldelmer1's solution, I armed myself with a fresh container of talcum powder and proceeded out to hunt for a ant. We have two acres, and surely I could hunt down one ant. None by the shop, None by the fruit trees, where was my quarry hiding? I went east, with determination to find this elusive beast.... Finally I found one... now after surrounding the game with a mound of talcum powder, he was destined to die from malnutrition or thirst, forever walking around inside the powder. Alas,,, He walked right over the powder and headed west. Another wives tale debunked.

That's kind'a like laying a rope or garden hose around your camp site to keep snakes out. Supposedly, they won't crawl over it. LIES...ALL LIES!! Whoever came up with that remedy was either selling rope or garden hose.

I think I saw him stick his little tongue out at me as he headed toward the sunset.
