Measuring for Center Caps
Anyone know how to correctly measure center caps? I measured the OD of mine while installed with a caliper and I get 4.19" and they sell them in 4.25 and 4.90". Am I measuring wrong? Do you measure the cap or the bore in the wheel?
My center caps are cheap chrome and rusting already so I want to install stainless steel caps and need to know the size to order them.
Thanks,
Earl

Re: Measuring for Center Caps
If your center caps are the same as mine made in china, the quality control was very poor. (I will end up painting mine). As to the size If the 4.25 goes into the bore size of the wheel it should fit. I would like to think the difference in size is due to the better quality materials used.

I would measure the wheel bore. Those caps could be out of round,or maybe i mean not symmetrical.

I say the wheel bore. If you don't and they are too small, they will rattle around as you drive. My old trailer had one that did that. It was quite annoying at low speeds.
