TV while traveling
Hello:
Welcome feedback on what folks do with the TV while traveling. Is it permanently installed in the cabinet or do you remove it and secure it, such as on the bed.
Thanks.

Re: TV while traveling
Our TV that is in the living area (that came with the trailer), we leave as is. It is not secured (beyond what it was at the factory). The one I installed in the bedroom, I leave up, but I have it snugged tight with a bungee cord. It has survived just fine so far.

Re: TV while traveling
With my flat screen, I just lay it screen down on the bed. I don't do any securing on the bed. It has never moved, and I have traveled some pretty rough roads

Re: TV while traveling
Old TV's for us. Glass picture tubes, etc. The big one in the livingroom is held in place by a strap that I got in the autoparts section of some store. It's supposed to be used to hold the trunk of a car closed. The cabinet has small lips around the edge that I hook it to before the slide is run in. The only purpose it has is to keep the TV from falling out of the hole and laying on the slide, I don't know how much the TV actually weights but the box was labled at 105lbs. I also found some plastic that goes under the front edge to protect the cabinet when the TV slides around. Looks like angle iron, 1/2" to 5/8" clear plastic though. The little TV in the bedroom cubbyhole is held in place by a chunk of cargo netting, the elastic type. I put 3 small eyelets into the wood trim and a drywall type hook on the outside wall. It, the netting, uses hooks to hold it in place. Nothing worse than finding the TV laying on the floor after some moron pulls out in front of you and you lock the tires up, pre-netting. Hard on cables too, all 2 I had to buy that I can remember.

I mounted my 32" flat screen to the wall with a wall mount adapter that I bought from Walmart, just bolted it to the stud in the wall in the living room area. It survived a 5000 mile trip around the rockies this summer with some pretty rough roads without incident.

Re: TV while traveling
When we had our 19" TV it was strapped onto the shelf with those sticky backed tie-downs you can buy at the RV parts store. Since we got our larger flat screen TV I haven't had time to figure out how to secure it, so I'm going to lay it face down on the bed for travel.
BTW, in almost 20K miles of travel the 19" TV never moved from its moorings.

We use a 26" flat screen in the entertainment nook. When we get ready to go, I push the TV against the back wall, put two Wildcat pillows in front of it and the use one of those spring loaded curtain rods to hold it in place. Worked well so far.

I lay my 28'' screen on the bed not had a problem (touch wood) the 15'' flat screen in the bedroom sits quite nicely between the cupboard units and the ceiling in the bedroom.

Re: TV while traveling
We just lift our TV off its mount and lay it face down on the bed. It seems to ride okay. We're looking for another, bigger, digital TV, and we'll do the same with the new one.

Re: TV while traveling
Our 32" LCD is mounted with a permanent wall mount just like at home.
No hassles of unhooking coax, audio/video cables and removing TV from shelf everytime the Cat is moved.

The last thing I want is more things to have to hook up or dissconnect when we arrive or leave. If only I had an automatic antenna! I know I'm going lose that thing on a tree limb or power line one of these days.
