Noise coming from Fusebox

Post by jackie on 8/26/2010, 1:22 pm

Hi everyone,

Finally purchased the 28RKBS in July. So far we're pleased. While I was putting things away last night with all the lights burning, I noticed noise coming from under the fridge where the fusebox is. When I turned out most of the lights, it stopped. Turned them back on and it started again. Sounds like a fan. Is this normal?

One other thing, the big slideout is much more snug at the top than at the bottom when it is retracted. I haven't noticed this with other fifth wheels. The difference is quite noticeable from where the skirting begins to the bottom. Concerned that it will get worse over time and start to leak. Has anyone else had this problem?

Appreciate any thoughts you have.

The fan on your converter is totally normal. This is how it cools itself.

Your slide probably needs adjusted. Ours was tight on one side and had a gap on the other. I adjusted it myself in about 20 minutes and now its even all around.

: welcome3To the Forum jackie, It might also be worth checking the wire connections on your fuse box to make sure that the connections are done up tight, as looseterminal connections can also buzz or hum.

WElcome Jackie. I also have the 28RKBS. I love it. Yes, the fuse panel is a bit noisy, much more than our old TT, but as said above, if it is just the cooling fan, it is fine and normal. As for the slide, mine "seems" to me to be a bit out of whack also, but I never really paid much attention to it. I think I might have to take a second look now that you bring it up.

MountainMan...how did you adjust yours? I don't think mine is too bad, but it still wouldn't hurt to know the procedure.

Ed,

There is a link at the top of the "Maintenance, Repair" page titled "Lippert Slideout Manuals". Its Lipperts web site manuals with details of how to adjust or troubleshoot all Lippert Frame slideouts.

Thanks to Scruffy and Tater for posting it.

We use several 120V lamps throughout our TT - even mounted a couple of sconce lights on eash side of the sofa. We just like the light better and it keeps the converter from working very hard.

Here's a pic of My son and Grace on the sofa (he's playing Nintendo). They look really bright in this pic but they're only 40 watt bulbs.

This sure is a helpful forum. I really appreciate the input. Will attempt to adjust the slideout when hubby's back gets better and have crossed the fusebox noise off my "concerned list".
Thanks again and hope everyone has a great Labor Day!

At least once a yr. i open my fuse box up and vacuum out any dust that gets pulled in by the fan, makes it work a bit easier
