welcome to the forum babill.

What model coach do you have?

We have a free standing table with 4 chairs, although there is only 2 of us, so we only carry 2 chairs.

Like Tom, we opted for the dining table and chairs, and only carry two chairs when traveling. We used the other two in our home dining room because they closely matched our dining set.

I think that the easiest option for you would be to purchase a dining table and chair set from one of the RV parts and salvage places. I believe there is one listed on this site.

Here's a site that was posted by Admin http://www.timberman.com/salvage.htm

Here is a picture of our table turned sideways:

We put the 2 chairs on the side for travel, then 1 goes to the head of the table(Sharon LETS me sit there Laughing ) the other on the side of the table. With this configuration, as you can see from this picture, I put the living room chair next to the table for traveling.

One of our members posted some photos of his solution for the dining area. I really love the table, but the chairs don't look real comfortable. The table has a center section that has drawers in it. There are drop-leaf sides connected to the center section. In the completely open position it would seat 4 people easily and 6 cozily.

Look here: http://www.wildcatcamperforum.com/diy-improvements-f3/dinette-replacement-with-table-and-chairs-t1042.htm

If you do a search on Amazon.com for folding dining chairs, you can find some that look similar to some of the Wildcat chairs. They have padded seats - vinyl, I think. I would remove the padded seat and re-cover it with cloth.

I saw a mod in another forum where somebody converted regular dining chairs to the storage type that Forest River uses. I copied the photos of how he did the mod, which I would be willing to share.

The table and chairs Tater is writing about come from Ikea. Do a search there for gateleg table and then wooden folding chair. I think Tater has a point about the chairs but some simple cushions from a discount store should fix that.

DW and I are planning to go this route. It will save a lot of space when folded. We think it will create room for a double air mattress on the floor
