Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
Thought I would start a new post for this since there are so many others.
My super slide started to stop about 3/4 of the way in, knowing that you all have had this problem before, I did so some searching and found Shooters diagram on how to fix. After talking to Shooter to see what gauge wire he used, I went to a battery store to get cables made up and here's what they suggested to do:
[/img]
I removed the center breaker for the pump, then moved the upper breaker to the middle position, then put 1 of the new breakers onto the top hole of the original bus bar. So the 2 new 40 amp breakers are tied together with new bus bars.
WORKS GREAT!!!!

And you can pick the auto breakers up at any autoparts store in the fuse section. They usually have 30 and 40 amp breakers hanging on the rack.

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
I actually got mine from the traveling RV repairman that did my bearings & replaced my 7 pin connector. I think they were $3.89 each, plus tax of course....

Thanks, oldelmer1 - this is exactly what I was looking for! The picture is perfect! But does anyone know where the manual crank is! Roger

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
From what I understand you can manually crank the hydraulic pump with an electric drill to get pressure if the 'electrical part' of the pump is not working. THAT"S IT! If the hydraulic part of the pump goes you do not have a manual method to retract or extend the rooms. Not a very good backup.

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
Another thought along the lines of breakers. When I first bought my trailer I needed to reset my breaker on occasion. After awhile I replace the breaker with a new on of the same value and that seemed to take care of things. Then awhile later the problem reoccured and winter was coming on so I let things go. Spring came and I then noticed a noise coming from my pump while raising or lowering my landing gear. This noise probably was there when I extended my room too. Being inside I could'n hear the pump. To make this story short. My pump was drawing too much current according to spec's. and I had to have my pump replaced. Because waited my trailer was no longer under warranty. Just a thought. These breakers are there for overload protection and maybe something else is the problem. Something to think about..If my trailer was new and knowing what I know now I would have them check the current draw on my pump. Something else might be wrong.

The link did not take me to the Lippert manual. Just to another post on the forum. I didn't find a link to the manual on that post either. Just wondering.

oldelmer1,
Great writeup and photo.
I've bookmarked this thread for the next time I get the Cat, but I'll buy the parts today and toss them in the RV basket as a reminder.

Thanks Mark,
The bars that are connecting the 2 breakers together are from a battery store. I went into the store looking for them to make me 2 little battery cables, and when asked what I wanted to do with them, the GAVE me the metal bars for free.

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
I had the store make up my "pig-tails", they had the heavy duty connectors and crimpers (didn't have the bar, that's why I used the cables).

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
Well I went looking again. Big mistake. I got a wiring nightmare behind the batteries. Lose nuts, wires hooked up wrong and found 2 more breakers I did not know existed. Fun starts Wednesday day to try and clean this mess up. Since I can not get the batteries out this should be fun. I may have the same problem as U all since the slide pump does not even go thru the breaker anymore.

Are you replacing 1 breaker with 2 or is it being rewired?

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
My dealer replaces it with 2 40's as oldtimer did. It appears to be the top 2.

Yes, the one 50amp is being replaced by two 40ams breakers wired in parallel.

Re: Auto Reset Breakers for Slide/Landing Gear
We were having a problem with our slideout stalling when it was going in or out. Took to the dealer and discovered that the circuit breaker was 50 amps and it needed to be 80 amps. They replaced it with an 80 amp breaker and the problem went away
