Floor Squeaks

Post by Rich5117 on 8/14/2010, 4:15 am

Has anyone had the problem with floor squeaks? I know in our manual it say Forest River is not responsible for floor squeaks. Ours squeaks right outside the bathroom so anytime you get up at night of course it squeaks. Has anyone done any repairs, if so how did you access the flooring? I am unable to do anything from above as the flooring is linoleum. Thanks for your help.

We too have squeaks. Right in front of the entrance door. I was going to rescrew it to the frame if I did the laminate flooring mod.
I used to install flooring in homes and usually squeaks were from 2 pieces of wood moving. I'm pretty sure our Cat's are a single layer. Not sure though. If so it would have to be tightened to the frame more than likely.
If your bathroom is above the basement, it might be easier to remove the ceiling and look it over first.

Yes, our floor squeaks in the kitchen area where the carpet and linoleum meet.

Mine doesn't squeak but you can sure feel it flexing in the forward bunk room area in the 32QBBS.

I have a squeak at the top of the steps leading into the bedroom area. I'd guess it's just the age of the trailer. You know, like a new house settling? You hear the creaks and groans in the middle of the night?

We have a slight "popping" noise sometimes. If Scruffy adjusts the level of the trailer, it usually goes away.

I also have a squeak abt 3' in front of door, right by heat register. Like someone else said it's like two edges of plywood rubbing together! Dealer says no not a floor joint it's the heat register and nothing they can do. Anyone found a cleaver way to fix?

I put some slide holders to lift my stairs off the trailer (mod somewhere). If I do not I have large pop behind my sink counter top. Many pops. The top and the trailer wall are rubbing I think. Stops when u lift stairs. Also soft spot by oven being fixed by dealer now. This is were they cut the floor joists to get the heater duct across form the side of the trailer. I have one by floor register by door. Dealer braced the heck out of it under warranty. Repair not as good as it once was since I jack knifed trailer. I screwed the heck out of stairs and it stops the squeak. Almost all of it.

Is the squeak right near or on top of a heater vent register?

Because of the saggies for so long we got one on the duct in front of the stove and one towards the slide near the radio.

I had a squeak at top of steps by the register. I posted my fix on the old website and it seems to be gone now, so i will try to go from memory. I think I took the regiter off and put the screwdriver between the floor and heat duct and "twisted" it so the heat duct would "bend" away from the floor. It fixed it.
