Slide Toppers
How many of you have slide toppers installed? Looking at them, I was wondering if there were ever problems in high wind situations that caused damage. Also, do they trully do the job intended or do you still get a lot of leaves, dirt, etc blowing under the topper anyway?
Thanks for any information you can provide.

Re: Slide Toppers
I just installed a Carefree Kover II. It seems to work well. We had a huge rain last week and did have some water sitting. I saw a mod for a PVC rack somewhere that holds it up nice. Should be able to store it pretty easy as it comes apart.
I installed it myself. Ended up being much easier than I thought.
Slide is clean Under and debris falls off about as good as your awning when rolling it up. there is a full shield option that sort of cleans the top as it rolls up. I might get that option next time.
I do however have some concern as the brackets that are on the slide are just screwed in with self tap screws. Some are not even in anything. I caulked it all good but I guess we will have to see how long till they come loose.
I've only had this for two weeks but so far, I'm happy with it.
Maybe some veterns will chime in too.

Re: Slide Toppers
We purchased our Cat used. It was a year old and the prior owner already had the slide toppers installed. I would definitely install them. They keep the top of the slides clean and help keep water out. They can flop around if you are in a windy area but not to the extent that it ever bothered us. They do tend to hold water in heavy rains. If we need to pull the slides in after we've had rain, we just stop and start the slides a few times to allow the water to run off.

Had ours installed by the dealer when we picked up our camper.

Re: Slide Toppers
Ours was installed by the dealer when we bought the CAT. Yes, water pools, but I just lower the landing gear and jump back.
I have noticed that some wet leaves stick to the topper, but never had any thing get onto the top of the slide. Oh, once a bird wanted to make a nest under the topper when we were in a campground. I just closed up the slides and the bird went to our neighbor.
We like them and would definitely get them again.

Re: Slide Toppers
that was me that made the PVC frame to go under the topper.
And it works like a charm, Perfect. Keeps the topper tight and no water puddles at all.
Made it where it would come apart in the middle and the legs will flip up flat with the rest of the frame for easy storage, with both pieces on top of each other it takes up about as much room as a small beach chair.
I know it looks huge in the picture but its really not and weights next to nothing so its easy to place under the topper. I keep a small step ladder mounted on the back ladder.
