GMC 2500HD noise in front end
My 2007 GMC 2500HD 4X4 has developed an annoying noise comming from the right front end when I make a hard right/left turn, it's much more noticeable when I make a right turn, I've taken it to the dealer 3 times, but they can't seem to find a problem. Any ideals what it may be? I thought it might be a loose brake caliper, or possibly a bearing assy that some people are having trouble with. Any thoughts would be helpful.

I know on my GMC/Chevy they have had problems with the stearing and they have to change out the stearing box to stop the noise. Had it done under warranty and it now starting to make some noise again with only 53K miles. This is a normal problem with GMC/Chev.

Its actually the intermediate steering shaft thats been a problem. Not the steering box itself.
I'm pretty sure this has been rectified though in 2007.5 and later trucks. Mine was replaced under waranty several months back and has not rattled since. ( It only took the dealer about 20 minutes max and I was out the door back on the road).
After seeing the shaft and how it operates there is absolutely no danger whatsoever but it is annoying. GM is fixing them if you ask. I know several guys well past waranty that have had theirs replaced for free.
If this is your problem specktout - You can feel the vibration in the steering wheel when turning sharp and hitting a rough patch of road.
The only other problem Ive heard of is front wheel bearings going out around 100K miles.

Have the dealer check the torsion bar.

I'm going back armed with all this good information, I haven't noticed a vibration, but it has a very sharp thump when going over a bump and or turning right into a driveway or parking lot. I can feel it in the steering.

I got some good information from one of my fishing websites that it's most likely the ISS (intermediate steering shaft) that's giving me the problem. Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to the dealership here in Aransas Pass with this information and make sure they resolve this problem for me.
